Try unplugging the battery and starting up with power only. Any Luck? If that works the battery can be put back in and try charging again. Another thing to try is to hold down the fn key and press f4 key once. If that doesn't work try again fn and f4. If all else fails try unplug and take out battery. Then take out the memory and put it back in and try to turn the laptop back on.

Laptop white screen

Having a laptop screen turn white is one of the most frustrating problems a user can experience since it prevents use of the laptop to find a solution.
A white laptop screen indicates a serious problem with the laptop's hardware, and no easy solution to this issue exists.
Just diagnosing this condition requires advanced computer knowledge.
Identification

With this problem, the laptop itself will power on and load the operating system as per usual, but the screen will become a complete, static white, according to LaptopRepair101.
No particular brand or make of laptop falls prey to this issue more than any other; it can happen to any laptop.

Causes
Since so many different brands and models of laptops exist, specific causes of a white screen vary from laptop to laptop.
The likely cause in most cases of a white screen on a laptop is a connection problem between the LCD screen and the video cable running from the motherboard.
The issue can also reside strictly with the motherboard or the screen might contain a defect.

Considerations Users can diagnose a white screen problem by opening up the laptop display case to determine whether a loose video connection on the back of the LCD screen exists.
Reconnecting the video cable should resolve the white screen; a video cable reconnection that does not fix the white screen narrows the root cause to a problem with the motherboard or the screen.

Motherboard Problems
The only way to determine if the laptop screen turns white due to a motherboard problem is to test out a different, working LCD screen with the laptop.
This requires the user connect the inverter board--the power supply for the LCD backlight and the video cable to the test LCD.
If the test LCD works with the motherboard, then the laptop's screen needs replacing; otherwise, a new motherboard is needed because there is no way to replace an integrated graphics card on a laptop motherboard.

Prevention/Solution
Taking apart a laptop screen may make some users feel uncomfortable, so you can use an external monitor connected to the VGA port common to most laptops if the processor and hard drive still work fine. Using an external monitor requires finding the proper function key command to toggle between the LCD and external monitor.
Warning
Taking apart the LCD screen on a monitor likely voids any manufacturer's warranty.
Consider visually checking the video connection to the laptop screen as a last resort if no other viable options exists.
The service manual that came with your laptop likely offers some tips to disassembling the computer, or conditions that could void the warranty.

How can i fix my laptop black screen? I can hear it coming on, but no image on the screen.

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • AC adapter
  1. 1 Check the power source. While you have presumably already attempted to turn your laptop on and off, the problem may lie with your AC power adapter. Is the power-indicator light on the adapter on? If not, your problem may lie here. However, whether or not you have a power indicator light on your adapter, consider unplugging it and plugging it into another outlet. This may turn on your laptop and take care of your blank-screen problem.
  2. 2 Check your brightness settings. While it seems like a simple oversight, the brightness on your laptop may sometimes be turned all the way down. Thus, the screen appears to be black, off or defective, when the problem is simply that the brightness is on its lowest setting. To fix the brightness, check your laptop keyboard. Most laptops have the brightness settings mapped to two keys at the top left of the keyboard, accompanied by a symbol (often a sun). Use these keys to fix your brightness, but keep in mind that some laptops require that you press the Function key at the same time as the Brightness key.
  3. 3 Check the status of your laptop battery itself. There should be a battery indicator on the laptop that is connected to the battery. This indicator is either on the bottom of the laptop or (likely) on the side. If there is no indicator, your battery itself may be the problem, and may require replacing. Keep in mind that older batteries of the nickel-cadmium variety are more likely to decharge over time and forget their initial maximum charge level; this may be a particular issue to users of older laptops.
  4. 4 Find a VGA connector and hook up your laptop to an external monitor if the above steps have not alleviated the blank-screen problem. Turn on the computer and the external monitor. Does the external monitor light up? If so, the blank screen is likely due to a video subset problem/LCD problem in your laptop.

Toshiba laptop 2 years old, the screen is black. The laptop turns on but get no screen.

You can try connecting an external monitor and if you can get to the CMOS/BIOS you can verify that the active screen is your laptop screen. If everything is OK on the BIOS, then probably your laptop screen is broken. To enter the Bios use F2 or F10 (depending on model) when booting.

SCREEN WONT TURN ON

Connect an external monitor (CRT or LCD) to the laptop's "VGA-out" port. Then, turn your laptop on. Does it show the usual "start-up" screen, on the external monitor? If so, then either your laptop's screen is totally-dead, or the "LCD-inverter" (a $20 part that takes $50 for a technician to replace) needs replacement.

Or, does your laptop have a key-sequence (LCD-screen-only, LCD-and-external, external-only) that needs to be used to select LCD-only mode?

if nothing is displayed on your screen then we have two options and they are:
1. try and connec an external VDU to your laptop and power up again
2. Check out the RAM and replace it with new ones or certify its working capability on another laptop.

My Aunt has an Acer laptop that she would like to hook up to a monitor. She has macular degeneration and cannot read the screen so she wants to hook it up to her specialized monitor. How would she do this?

You can connect the monitor to the laptop only if your laptop has a VGA plug and the monitor has the right connector.
The connector on the laptop it's usually blue in the center with 15 holes. If your not sure please post your type of laptop model and I will check it out and guide you to your connector.

If you succeed in connecting the screen turn your monitor on and turn laptop on. I know you will say nothing happens on screen, and that's because you need to hold down on the "FN" or function key and press "F4" at the same time, only once. If Nothing happens try again. Know your monitor on laptop will shut off if the screen does turn on, it's normal. Please let me know if you have any luck!
