Question about Datel Action Replay for Nintendo DS

1 Answer

I keep receiving the message "you need to connect your action replay before it can be updated", and when i try and install the drivers for the NDS link it just says"can't install drivers, unknown device". I've tried updating the drivers but the same message appears. Do you know how to obtain these drivers or will i have to purchase the action replay again (first purchased back in 2006).

Hi, Don't think is from the Game, from what you said, When CD's can install drivers, it means that the CD is corrupted... Depending on how you kept it.
And also, I think there is a file missing or a file that is corrupted that is not allowing the CD to install drivers...

You can get the CD from your friend, If he has any,to try out and see if it's just the CD that is faulty or something Before you go and purchase a new CD...

You can take the Game to the store and try it with another CD before purchase a new CD..

Hope that helps ..

you have to downgrade your system to 6.20. thats the only supporting firmware ar psp could run on. and plus, the server is currently down and it will take time to fix it. i received this info from datel customer service via email. im guessing about 1 month for the ar server to work.

My action replay dsi code manager keeps saying "load failed" in the subscriptions section. how do i fix this? i've tried to update, uninstall and reinstall, reset the action replay, and nothing...

This is often caused by your antivirus/anti-malware software blocking the port on which the subscription module communicates with its home server. Create an exception in your firewall rules for the Datel folder under program files.

Action replay Problems

Well for #1, the current action replay does not work on the DSi. It only works for DS and DS lite- As for #2, I think the action replay has to be active in a DS or DS lite

My action replay code manager is empty and I want to add pokemon

You need to restart your action replay.

to do this follow these steps.

1. hold A and B while turning on your DS.

2. at the Nintendo screen hold start and select.(still holding A and B.)

3. Let go when the screen saying, nintendo dose not''blah blah'' this product.

4. Turn off when you see the action replay title screen.

Once restarted try and add a code.
I had the same problem, but i did the above.

Action replay code manager doesnt see the action replay

Many are experiencing this, what you are looking at here is a faulty action replay. go to the Datel website and submit your serial number to them, it will immediatly say whether or not your AR is from the time period when they had a problem with the internal USB reading system, if it is, then send it in and one will be shipped withing 10-12 weeks

Code manager connection

CD is in drive: Plug in the DS and turn it on (going to the update screen on the DS), this -might- prompt you about a new software that has been plugged in and ask you to install the drivers for the "NDSLink" With the CD in the drive, it will find the drivers for the NDSLink

Wire Wiped Clean: It isn't the wire that needs cleaning but it's the pins, if the Pins need cleaning use an alcohol solution (Damp, not soaking). Otherwise pinch the wire and run your fingers across it to straighten the wires within the cord without pulling (pull too hard and you'll rip the wires) Though do note that exposed wires are not a good thing. If you received your cord with exposed wires, return the Action Replay and its accessories promptly and get a new one.

DS is Open: Again, your DS needs to be on in order for the computer to recognize that it's plugged in. It's the Action Replay that the Code Manager on the computer talks to, not the DS. The Action Replay needs an electrical current going through it to tell the computer that it's turned on. DS on = Action Replay on.

Other possibilities that are not explained: Did you happen to drop the Action Replay? Damage from falls is completely possible and ruins the state of the Action Replay, causing it to come lose easily or not work properly. I have needed to replace my Action Replay due to these accidents before.

Where was this Action Replay bought? If you bought it from a exchange store, you might have gotten a DS that was damaged before you got it (It happens), so if it is not too late, return it, and get a new one (Depending on the price difference between new and used in your area, for me it was a $5 difference)

Action replay when i plug in my ds and load code manager it says waiting for ds even though it is plugged in

IF you are running Vista 64, the issue is the driver on the disk is incompatible, thus the pc will never see the ds. However, I have found a workaround. First make sure the DS is on and plugged in and the Action replay Manager is launched. On the DS click on the mouse so it should read updating software. Then, go into device Manager via the Control Panel, there you will see NDS and an exclamation mark. Right click and choose to update the driver or properties. Then choose Browse My computer for driver software... then let me pick from a list... then fo the manufacturer shoose: Standard USB Host Controller and for the Model choose Unknown. It will pick it up instantlly. Voila.. Good Luck! and what a pain!! V
