Question about Samsung Refrigerators

Open Question

Our Samsung RL41WGTB is only two years old. The display on the front said 3deg for the fridge and -20deg for the freezer. When I opened the freezer, everything had defrosted so it can't have been at the temperature shown. When I pressed the display at the front, it then changed to 8deg in both which meant it must have been off for hours. The power works and cold air is pumping through the vents in the freezer but for some reason, it isn't cold enough. I think after only two years, this shouldn't be happening.

SOURCE: Hotpoint Mistral Frost Free Fridge freezer - fridge not getting cold

We have just had to call out an engineer to get our 1 1/2 year old Hotpoint Graphite Frost Free Fridge Freezer repaired. The fridge had almost entitely stopped cooling even when on high. I was amazed at how easily the problem was sorted. The engineer removed all the basktes from the freezer to access the screws on the inside backpanel of the freezer. Once this panel was removed it was clear that the so called Frost Free doesn't really mean what it says. The ice need to be melted with a bit of simple care. It is obvious that with a bit of care it is easliy a diy job BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND READ THE NEXT PART BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO REMOVE THE ICE> The ice forms around variouys pipes etc and he usecd a screwdriver to help release the ice quicker than waiting for it to defrost and he also used a simple hairdryer to help speed up the process. He had a ntowel and a basin to take care of the water. Next time I would have no problem doing this myself but I would need to leave it a little while to defrost and NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER as I am sure somehow I would puncture a pipe or the wall of the freezer itself and I am quite used to doing the odd bit of DIY. On a difficulkty scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being difficult I would rate the job as about a 3. Hope this helps anyone who reads this about £70.

SOURCE: samsung fridge freezer not cold enough

Heya,
I did samsung warranty for awhile and these fridges have a faulty defrost termination clixon. What happens is when you turn off the fridge it turns it off defrost. If you do get a tech out there are two parts you need to fix it. One is a yellow sensor cable and the other is a defrost termination wire that is black and red. These two parts i use to sell for $70aus when the fridges where out of warrenty.

I actually have one of these fridges now and work so if you have any other problems please let me know

Regards Mat

I have a samsung fridge freezer model no RSH1DTMH and the fridge will not go lower than 13degrees and the freezer and water dispenser seem ok. The fridge freezer is only 3 years old. Any ideas/

We had the same fault on our Samsung American style RSH1DBRS fridge freezer as lots of other people seem to be having. After doing lots of research, we found the best solution seemed to be to buy a repair kit from Appliance DIY Repairs. The instructions were fantastic and the installation was a doddle. Excellent service & well priced.

The digital display on my rs2555sl Samsung stopped working and the fridge and freezer are not cooling. The fridge is only 4 years old. what could the problem be?

circuit board controling temp to both fridge and freezer is out. Could have been fried by an electrical surge or just a badcircuit board.

Sorry

My samsung frige freezer RL41WGTB first broke down at about 7 months old - They changes sensors etc but no kidding it took 6 visits to get it fixed - the final engineer said it needed gas so he did that...

i suspect fault is nothing to do with gas and as this unit uses r600a, gas needs to be dosed exactly - no good just squirting a bit in!
if freezer is ok, i guess fault is with the fan jammed.

It might be that your fridge went into something called 'demo mode' that shuts the compressor down so as not to waste electricity on the showroom floor. The freezer and fridge sides both start to warm up, but the temperatures shown on the outside of the door never change, so you don't know you have a problem until you open the fridge or freezer and find you have a melted mess. My Samsung is 7 years old and we run into this problem frequently when our power is on and off, like just recently with hurricane Ike. Per the Samsung website, the cure for 'demo mode' is to unplug the fridge for 1 minute then plug it back in. They also suggested pressing Power Freeze and Freezer Temp together for 8 seconds until you hear a chime to cancel demo mode. Good luck. I really dislike this machine.
