Question about MSI AM3 890GXMG65 Motherboard (7642010R)

2 Answers

Got a problem with my pc. It suddenly intermittently doesn't POST. It boots 1 out of 15 times. When not booting, it turns on, no beep, after 2 seconds, turns off. Then I have to wait around a minute before I can press the power button again with the same results. Motherboard: MSI 890GXM-G65 Processor: Phenom 2 1055 x6

It may be that your motherboard is dead. I have had this problem before. Here are some things you can do to troubleshoot:

Remove video card then plug back in or try alternative video card if you have one.

Isolate each memory stick in your RAM. This may identify RAM problems.

Try a different power supply in your PC or at least reconnect every connection for your current power supply.

Try clearing the CMOS by switching the CMOS clear jumper

Acer 5742g Beep at boot up

I have a problem that looks like this one.

At boot up, after the POST, each time the HDD led blinks, the laptop produces a loud "beep", and refuses to boot, as if this phenomenon prevented the HDD to be read.

If I press the power button, it stops beeping. When I release it, it starts beeping again.

If I press F8 at the beginning and then ask for a normal boot, It boots normally. Anyway, in windows, I have some strange activity, like I would continually pressing Alt+Tab. If I press Esc, it stops immediately and then all seems to work fine.

Any clue?

HI! Fujitsu Siemens S7020WL1 doesn't start, black screen and 3 beeps, 1 long and 2 short. Any hint what the problem might be? Appreciate, Leuben (leuben@eol.ca)

Hi there,

It differs between manufacturer slightly but usually 1 long and 2 short beep codes often means that there is a problem with the video card/graphics card of your computer. This could be bad news for a laptop, as most of them do not have discrete video cards that can be replaced.

Has anything changed since it was working last? check that first
Next -- the Beep codes indicate a hardware problem --the PC was unable to POST(Power On Self Test-)-but DELL's beep codes closest to what you described is either 1-2-video card not detected or 1-3-1-1 which is Memory (RAM) error adn the PHEONIX beep code of 1-3-2 is Memory error also-- so be sure all cards and chips are seated properly--I dont think its the hardrive --a PC can still boot and POST without a hardrive.

After a short while, I get the normal 1 beep indicating (from what I've read on the internet) that the POST checks have been passed. Shortly after that, one of two things happen: 1. When booting for...

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.
the grrr is the sound its not getting enough power
test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if the fan is not working the PSU is faulty
One bad/faulty lead can cause a computer with lots of problems
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

hope this helps

HP pavillion DV 2000 cant boot and with 1 long 2 short beep

I found some info on a forum, it says the 1 long and 2 short beeps is a problem with the graphics chip. You may need a replacement motherboard.

Computer dead and beeping

If it beeps and not boot then it is the post routine telling you there is a problem. The post routine is run when you turn the power on to ensure the computer hardware is ok to run. The manufacturer of the bios routine can tell what is wrong by the type, number and duration of the beeps. Look up the code meanings and it will indicate the problem. If this sounds like nonsense to you then give the make and model of your machine and what the beeps sound like. ( beep beep beep delay beep beep beep) etc. and I'll look it up for you.
