It is either a memory or graphics card problem. you can clean the pins on the memory cards and the graphics card with a pink erasure and reinsert them and see if it gets rid of the problem.

546 will turn on normally(light is blue) but won't display my monitor and usb ports power some items and not others.

You probably dislodged some components in your computer after it fell. Suggest that you open the computer and re-insert the memory modules and other cards inserted in the motherboard. Unplug it first and on a non static surface like a kitchen table.

What does a memory card look like

Are you speaking of the RAM / DRAM card inside the PC? You need to google it online to see it before you open the case. Dell offers many PDF manuals which include replacement of those cards. It normally is not difficult or expensive. Be careful in dry weather, of static discharge.

Dell Inspiron 518 Solid Amber light on power button. My power went out today and i turned my computers back on and this happend. All fans are running.

Your computer has failed the Power On Self Test.

Be sure to check all external connections as well as the connections within the computer chassis. Clean the Gold fingered connections of the RAM modules and Graphics card with tissue paper.

Also go through my published guide entitled, My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!! for additional help and information.

You may need to clear the BIOS/CMOS.

Take care!

My dell inspiron 1525 power light is blinking amber???

Most newer models of Dell computers now have a diagnostic LED surrounding the power button on the from of the computer. When you press the power button to boot the PC, the light should be green and remain green under normal circumstances. Any other lights will help you troubleshoot the power issue you are having.

A solid green light means the computer is operating normally.

A solid yellow light indicates the power supply is operating normally but the computer is not processing data. This could mean there is a problem with the CPu or another component on the motherboard.

A blinking yellow light indicates the power supply is receiving power from the wall, but not functioning properly. This generally means the power supply itself is bad and should be tested or replaced.

A blinking green light means the computer is in standby mode.
So use the LED power light codes if your Dell computer has them. Also pay attention to any unusual beeps or sounds coming from the computer. Then join us in our free computer tech support forums and we'll try and help you solve your PC problem. Sometimes, however, a service call to Dell will be required. If your system is still under warranty, you should always just call them first, as tampering with your computer may void your warranty.

Hope this helps!

I turned my 546 off from the 'Safe' mode and now it will not power-up. No yellow or blinking lights.

if no power indication at all, the I'd ensure the power supply connection is good, bypass any power strips and see if the system powers on, if no power with a known good outlet, then like the power supply for the system has failed (Generally an AXT power supply about $30)

Computer won't start, solid amber light, no fans, no keyboard, nothing. There is power to monitor and modem. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

That my Friend is the Yellow Light of Death, anyway turn on Your PC, as it starts You will here some beeps especially on a Dells. Count the beeps , there will be a slight pause so it will beep once then pause then beep again. Count the beeps and that will be Your code. Go to Dell Support site and look up code. Most of the time a Yellow amber light means that there is trouble with Your Motherboard but thats not to say its the Motherboard itself, during a power outage with no surge protected, it could have possibly burned out Your RAM, Processor, Heat fan, even the power supply itself. So look up the code and at least You'll have a better chance of finding the solution, Good Luck
