Hello and Welcome

Error 5100 means that the cartridge can not be detected by the printer.
Actually the printer is not actually loading the cartridge and showing you the error 5100.

To solve these follow the following steps. I hope it works

  1. Turn off printer
  2. Remove both the cartridges from the printer
  3. Use a clothe moistened with alcohol to clean the surface contact on the cartridges where the terminals inside the printers touches
  4. Return the cartridges
  5. Turn on the printer.
Error will be removed
If the problem exist then then go to Canon authorized service facility for repair. You can also get support by Canon by phone, at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666)

SOURCE: canon pixma mp560 gives error

This error indicates that there's an obstruction with the Carriage which is hindering the movement of the carriage. It's possible that there's something obstructing the following components: print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. Open up the front access door and check the printhead position. If it parks where it should, try moving it manually towards the other side, do this while the printer is On. After that, restart the printer.
If this doesn't help, then try the following steps:

  1. Turn off printer
  2. Hold down "Resume" button and press "Power" button to power on the printer.
  3. Now hold down the "Power" button and release the "Resume" button.
  4. Again, press "Resume" button twice then release both the buttons
  5. You'll see green lights flashing and then it'll stop blinking and will remain static.
  6. At the time when green lights remain solid, press the "Resume" button (four) 4 times.
  7. Again, press the "Power" button and the printer should turn off, if it's still On, once again press the "Power" button.

If the problem persists, try reinstall the cartridges and the print head. Also clean all the (possible) components so that there shouldn't be no actual obstructions inside the printer.

If nothing seems helpful, you may likely need to service the printer.

Good luck

Thanks for using FixYa.

My canon MP560 series has an error. it says an error has ocurred .Turn off the printer then back on again. If problem persists see the manual.I have done what has been asked me to do but it is not working....

Your computer will be showing an error code, probably 4 digits. Also the green and orange lamps will be flashing in a set sequence, ie green flashes 4 times and orange 5 times. the sequence of flashing lights is more accurate than the error code. Please come back and tell us what they are.

I have a cannon mp560 printer and receiving a error 6500

The 6500 error code is a logic board error code. The PCI Bus error is detected by the ASCI. Sounds like it needs new logic board. I would contact Canon Support to find the closest location to take it to or send it to. Thanks, Rick.

Canon MP560 has error code 6C10. What di I do?

There is no fix for this error code. I called canon support and was told it's a "fatal" error and the machine had to be serviced. Since it was under warranty they sent me a replacement and I sent back the broken unit. Canon paid for postage both ways.

Canon MP600 Printer - How do I fix error code 5100

Hi Whitey621
Error code 5100 Try
Solution 1:
Look inside for a tiny object like a piece of paper, a staple...

Solution 2:
There is a thin plastic strip running across the width in front of and below the drive belt: there are fine black vertical lines on this strip. If the strip gets a piece of crud on it, you get an error during the start-up sequence.
Gently clean this strip with a damp lint-free tissue
Hope It Helps: Pineworks.
