I had the same issue with my Dell XPS 15z, after looking every where to get instruction to get the CD out. I decided to call Dell Tech Support and it did work.

1. Turn off the laptop

2. Turn on the laptop and press F2 several times until the setup menu come up

3. Then press the eject botton from the keybord, the Cd should come up.

Good luck

Hello,
Look at the front door of your CD drive and you will see that there is a small hole.
Take a paper clip straight it out and push it inside the hole.

You will have to force little bit but without exaggerating you should able to open your CD.

If you really feel that you need to force a lot do not continue and bring it to an expert to open it.

Best regards

You can push a straightened paperclip thru the small pinhole on the front of the drive. This will force the tray to open. This is assuming the CD isn't damaged and therefore preventing the CD tray from opening.

A 2year old put a train ticket inside the dvd/cd drive and now its stuck

There are two ways toopen the CD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drivetray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive traypops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CDdisc.
If you continue having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD driveis faulty and needs replacing.

I have a cd stuck in the cd drive of a dell laptop - it cannot be viewed on screen and there is no drawer - just a slot. There is no hole to insert a paper clip etc. Can you help?

Try booting to the Bios and press the F2 key once in the bios, this sometimes works with Dell laptops.
If this does not work, and with the laptop unplugged, take an old credit card or similar and push it gently into the slot trying to get underneath the stuck CD, you may be able to pop it off the spindle. If you feel it freeing, get a pair of thin nosed pliers and push them into the slot until you feel the edge of the cd, gently pull it out.

Or you can put some double sided tape on one edge of the credit card and insert it as above, once it frees from the spindle, wiggle the card and you may get the CD to come out attached to the card.

If the above does not work, you will need to remove the base cover, remove the cd retaining screw and dismantle the drive to remove it

Dell xps m1330 dvd drive will not eject cd inside

Im a dell tech, and i hate those cdrom styles, but, that is what the consumer wants, so we make them. Try starting the machine, then press F2 to enter the BIOS. once in the bios, press the eject button. listen for any noises, (an attempt to eject). if you hear a sound, it means the drive should be capable of ejecting the disc, and perhaps the disc has not seated correctly. If the disc will not eject, you must contact Dell. This is from the DELL dcse site: " Optical Drive The XPS M1330 has a slot-loading optical drive instead of a conventional tray-loading module. There is no mechanical eject mechanism for the drive to eject stuck discs. This means you must replace the drive if a disc gets stuck in the drive. After replacing the drive, disassemble the old drive to remove the disc for the customer."

GAME CD IS STUCK WON'T SHOW AS INSERTED SO IT WON'T EJECT

With the slot load models the whole system needs to be disassembled to retrieve a stuck disc. Are you absolutely sure there is a disc in the drive? If so, it needs serviced and may need the drive replaced.

Dell XPS m1330 Loud CD/DVD Drive Problem

Good day,

try to look for a very tiny hole near the cover of your cd/dvdrom drive. if you locate this one, you can use a thin wire (straigthened paper clip will do) and push the wire through the hole until you fill some resistance. at this point, your cd/dvdrom drive cover should dislodge and you can eventually open it and get your stuck cd.

i hope this helps.
