Question about Cycling

Both of the wheel discs are very tight because of the pads rubbing have tried putting two credit cards in and pushing knife inbetween but no success. do i release some fluid or any other advice would be most welcome.

No you sound like you know what your doing, there is nothing to be aware of when compressing the piston back in except make sure there is enough room in your reservoir for the extra fluid that will come back up (you may need to empty some out).
The problem with the noisy pads may be a little more tricky,
is it a squeeling noise you hear when brake?
is it a grinding noise (like metal on metal) when you brake?
or is it a constant noise?

if it is a squeeling noise the most likely senario is dust on the pads and disc's. this is normally a problem with cheap brake pads and may be solved by buying a more expensive brand.
if it is a grinding noise it may mean there is something else rubbing on the disc. once the wheel is off check for any rubbing marks from any part of the wheel or guards that are on the disc.

I have XT Disc Brakes and just put new pads on front and rear, 1 set of Sintered and 1 set of Standard Blue. Once on and with Disc Pistons pushed back into caliper as far as they will go, the pads still...


Try taking out the pads and reseating them. I have found that sometimes the pads don't fully click into position and so they stick out a bit, which will cause minimal clearance and rubbing. Sounds like you have everything else in position correctly.

If this doesn't work, maybe you have a bad set of pads? happened to me recently on a set of Avid's.

How can ichange the disc brakes on a renault 19


Hi there, I have a few steps here to help you out:
  • With your hand brake ON, loosen the wheel bolts to hand tight, jack up front wheel, chock back wheels, and put axle stands/blocks in place (just in case) .
  • Remove wheel. Disconnect pad wear wire, it pulls out of the connector.
  • Remove lower caliper bolt (at the back of caliper at the bottom), need a 13mm ring spanner for head of bolt and 17mm to stop it spinning
  • Use a screw driver between the back of the outer pad and the caliper to raise the caliper back away from the back of outer pad. Pivot caliper upwards to rest on top of wheel disc (good idea to tie it up with some wire) .
  • Remove and discard old pads , clean out with wire brush and soft brush , don't breath in to much of the dust its nasty.
  • Fit new pads (remember pad wear sensor on inside pad), make sure that the pads are in contact with the disc , and the top of them sitting flush with the rim of the disc, don't force them into this position they should naturally sit there.
  • Lower caliper down into position, you may need to push back the piston further in order to make room for the new pads , do this with you hands or a small piece of timber. Keep an eye on the brake fluid reservoir , your pushing fluid back in so if its over full it may spill over. Refit lower caliper bolt (Renault say to replace this each time), and tighten. Reconnect pad wear sensor.
  • Pump brake pedal until normal brake pressure returns.
  • Remove axle stand/blocks, refit wheel and bolts, lower jack and tighten up wheel bolts.

Disc rub on brake pads


Hi,
First be sure the calipers are working properly. Test by pushing the brake hard and then spin the wheel. If this is new and it rubs - look closely and be sure it isn't the bend tab or warning tab rubbing. If they are old brakes replace as this is the warning you are needing to replace.
IF new - and they still rub - remove and inspect - be sure there is not a 'bend or warning tab' that is rubbing.
If there is no tab rubbing - you can SAND [ with sand paper] the BRAKE PAD carefully and squarely. I suggest you take these to a professional as the items I describe should be caught by a beginner.

Avid juicy sevens remain tight against disc


Juicy's are prone to sticky pistons.REMOVE pads,clean calliper ,pull lever lightly and add a drop of hydraulic fluid to the edges of the pistons to lube.Recess pistons,wipe off excess fluid and fit pads.If this doesn't work they might need bled.

Change back Brake pads on renualt megane 2

HOW DO I CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS ON A FORD ESCORT I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIT THE BRAKE PADS


In very general terms...Take off the wheel then unbolt the brake caliper and pull it off the disc. Next remove the old pads from the caliper. Next you have to push the caliper piston right back into its housing. You can use a g clamp to push it back. If it is not right back the new pads will be too tight on the disc and you wont get it back on. Now put the new pads in the caliper and fit the assembly over the disc and bolt everything back together. When pushing the piston back check the fluid level in the resivior as the level will increase. If the fluid overflows it will damage your paintwork.

Brake pads are shut fairly tight. Can't get disc


Your brakes adjust automatically (so when the pads wear down your levers don't get looser). What you did was pull the brake lever and it adjusted making the pads shut.

Anyway all you need to do is take a wide flat-head screw driver and wiggle it back and forth between the 2 pads.
