For that you need to know WPA key in your wireless router. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WPA security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

My psp always says connection has timed out check for wpa key

You would need to enter the WPA that is being used by your router. This is like a "password" of sorts that prevents other people from using your internet connection without your permission. Once you find out the WPA key (it should be in your router's configuration), you can either disable WPA on your router, or enter it into your PSP.

I cant get my psp on because it keeps askin me for my wpa key! where do i find that. its not on my router.

Hi Friend, In this case UI would like to tell you that the WPA key is the same password that you use to connect to the Internet wirelessly from your system.
The WPA key is the password that you set for the wireless network at your home. So, I would recommend you to try and enter the wireless network name's password

My psp is asking for a wpa key for netgear what

Your network will be secured and that is why it's asking for this WPA Code. Go to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

Type in the top box admin and password box as password

Once in go to Wireless Settings and enter them in the PSP.

PSP Says WEP Key is Incorrect, But That's Untrue

It was a WPA key, not a WEP key. As there were no choices for WPA encryption in the encryption part of the connection process, I think I need to update my PSP using a USB cable.

I don't know the WPA TKIP key and I have a router my psp wont

The WPA key is the router wireless password the wpa key can be found on the router page that can be accessed by the computer
so we need to click on start go to run and type cmd nd click ok in the black window type ipconfig and press enter note down the default gateway now open up a internet explorer and in the address bar that is the www bar type the default gateway ()ike 192.168.1.1) now if it asks you for a user name and password then try these combinations user- admin pass - admin
user- admin pass- password
user- admin pass- (blank)
the router page will open up now go to wireless then wireless security and you can find the key over there
note down the wpa key and close the page now enter it in your psp

To connect to the internet;
  1. Check that you have your PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system set up for Wireless (WLAN) networking in Infrastructure Mode.
  2. Make sure the WLAN switch on the left side of the PSP® is turned on so that the PSP® can connect to the internet.
  3. Make sure you are within range of a wireless access point (or hotspot) that allows connections to the internet.
  4. Select icn_www.gif (WWW) under icn_network.gif (Network) from the home menu and press icn_btnx_color.gif.
  5. Use the up and down buttons to select the address bar and press to display the on-screen keyboard.
  6. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the address for the web page you want to display.
  7. When you have finished entering the address, highlight the Enter button and press icn_btnx_color.gif.
  8. Select a connection and press icn_btnx_color.gif.
  9. The web page will be displayed.
  10. To hide the on-screen menu, press icn_btntriangle_color.gif.
Setting up Infrastructure Mode;

Infrastructure Mode allows you to connect your PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system to the internet through a wireless network (WLAN) access point.
Required items:
  • A PSP® with system software version 2.0 or later.
  • A wireless network(WLAN) access point with internet access, such as:
    • A Wi-Fi hotspot (such as those at cafés, hotels and airports).
    • A home wireless network, which might include:
      • A subscription to an Internet Service Provider (ISP)
      • A DSL or cable modem
      • A wireless broadband router
  • Settings used for the SSID, WEP/WPA-PSK encryption and WEP/WPA-PSK key, as specified when the wireless access point was configured.
To set up Infrastructure Mode on your PSP®:
  1. Make sure the WLAN switch on the left side of the PSP® is turned on so that the PSP® can connect to the internet.
  2. Highlight icn_settings.gif(Settings) from the home menu.

    • Scan: searches for and then displays a list of access points (or wireless networks) and displays the SSIDs.
    • Enter Manually: allows the user to enter the SSID using the keyboard. Select this option if you know the SSID of the access point.
  8. If you choose the Scan option in the previous step, select the access point to be used and press icn_btnx_color.gif.
  9. Confirm the SSID and press the right directional button.
  10. To enter security information for the access point, choose one of the following:
    • None: does not set security information.
    • Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK (AES): all set security information. Press the right arrow button to move to the screen for entering WEP or WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) keys. Note: The WEP and WPA key fields display eight asterisks no matter how many characters you enter as the key.
  11. After entering the security information, press the right arrow button to continue.
  12. To select the address setting method, choose one of the following:
    • Easy: the following information is automatically set
      • IP address settings: Automatic
      • DNS settings: Automatic
      • Proxy server: Do Not Use
      • Internet browser: Do Not Start
Note: Most home networks will allow you to use the Easy address setting, which is recommended.
    • Custom: you can manually enter detailed setting information, such as when you are using a static IP network. For details, see the instructions supplied with the network device or the information provided by your ISP.
  13. After selecting the address setting method, press the right arrow button to continue.
  14. Check the settings, using the left arrow button to return to previous screens to make any necessary corrections.
