I just looked on ebay and there is a store that sells your bobbins, 25 for $13.99. You can google your machine bobbins, by entering "brother xl 5001 bobbins" and you will get the sites for them. You may find that a class 15 bobbin will work or a SA156. There are also sites that sell your manual, and of course, you can always call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and complaint that they do not have your manual available for free to download.

AlansAlaterations Store, they have over 3000 items, I just entered your details into their search engine, available on every listing, yes, they have your bobbins.

I have a brother lx 2500 sewing machine and when it jamed i opened up the bobbin area and cleaned everything but now having problems getting the casing back in

Use a mirror and make sure that the area is perfectly clean and there are no obstructions. Then make sure that the needle is all the way up to the top of its cycle and then insert the bobbin.

Bobbin winder belt melted

Mine stopped working too. Gave up and wound bobbins by hand for a while until I broke down and took the machine apart -- an ordeal to figure out. I found that a pliable ring on the winder was completely disintegrated (gummy plastic-like stuff). An online search found this -- a bobbin "tire" which I THINK is the part I need: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbin-winder-tire-brother-x55238051.aspx. Hope this helps. --Also cleaned all the lint out when I had the machine opened up. They don't make it EASY!

My machine is breaking the thread. I tried changing the needle, adjusting the tension, and different threads. It is still breaking the thread. I took the top cover off and oiled it and the bottom cover...

What needle size and thread are you using? The needle may be too small for the size thread or you are not threading it correctly.
You should also check the bobbin area to see if the thread is getting caught or snagged.

I broke a needle on something hard. After I replaced the needle it wouldn't go all the way down. I took the screws out and removed the piece that holds the bobbin. I can't seem to get it back in so that...

This sounds like your metal plate needs adjustment. Loosen the screws and adjust it until the needle goes all the way down. If that doesnt work, ensure that your bobbin case has been aligned properly.

Winding the bobbin

If you can't turn the spindle easily with your fingers, it needs a drop of oil. Use only one small drop, as excess oil will cause the tire to slip. After oiling, turn the spindle until it moves fairly freely and then engage it with the motor.

It jams up

When that happened to me I had to replace the bobbin case-- (the peice of the machine the bobbin goes in.) It wasn't a Brother, though. I'd take it back to the repair shop and tell them it's still doing it.
