Any 625a Battery will do (don't get worked up about the AX) most camera shops, Watch shops, or even most large supermarkets sell them

I'm one of many who have had problems with the battery exhausted signal one gets with Nikon cameras, even sometimes with freshly charged batteries.

Yes. It sure could have caused the problem. You didn't say which Nikon camera you have, so consider this a general answer. NMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries are rechargeable and alkaline batteries are not. When your camera is set for rechargeable, the recharging circuit is activated when your camera is plugged into the wall outlet. When the camera is set to alkaline, the charging circuit is disabled. Therefore, if you had the camera set to alkaline and you used rechargeable batteries, you batteries were never getting charged. Since your NMH batteries were in a discharged state, your camera gave you correct information.

Please, what batteries do I use for my Nikon CoolpixL22. Thanks for your help

The L22 takes two standard AA batteries. You may use disposable alkalines or lithiums, or rechargeable NiMHs. Don't mix them, that is, use two of the same kind. If you use rechargeables, you must charge them separately; the camera is not a battery charger. You can use any brand, though I'd stick with the major brands.

Lithiums will last longer than alkalines but cost more. Rechargeable batteries cost more and won't hold a charge as long as alkalines, but can be reused.

Is my 105 mm telephoto that was used with Nikormat body interchangeable with new Nikon Digital cameras?

Some Nikon digital SLR will use the older lens in a very limited manner. Here is a chart that may help: http://www.nikonians.org/nikon/slr-lens.html

Shutter will not advance the film or allow for a picture to be ta

This will need servicing for the factory oil used for lubracation is dried up. When a camera is 20 years and older the oils contain solvent which evaporates turning the oil into a tar like substance. That causes the mechcanisums to lock up

Nikkormat FT

I have a Nikkormat FT, and I can assure you that there is no "timer" button on this camera. There is, however, a timer lever to the left of the lens if you are looking at the front of the camera. As for the light meter, have you tried moving the film advance lever to the "cocked" position, since that turns on the meter.

Using filters

Both filters perform the same task.

The filters reduce excess red tones that affect daylight film when shooting early morning or late evening. They are also effective if your flash exposures are too 'warm'. The filters I believe have a filter factor of 1.3 and require 1/3 f-stop of additional light.
