3 things you can do one is change out the batteries two clean the mouse it may be sticking and three get another mouse it may be defective in the circuitry. More than likely it is the battery unless it has been dropped or it is old and worn down. Thanks for using FixYa! please vote for me thanks John

Frequently during the typing of a document my cursor will jump to a completely different part of the document and until I lookup I'm typing in the wrong section. I'm not touching the internal mouse pad....

Be very careful about this. When I used my laptop all the time the same thing would happen from time to time.

If you touch the mouse pad at all it will move your cursor. Even lightly touching it with part of your hand can do the trick. Its best to hold your hands as high off the laptop as you are comfortable with. Try this and see if the problem persists.

Hi, I have M-RAA93 logitech cordless optical mouse for Notebooks. But i dont have any CD to install, what to do? I have Toshiba Satellite L455 S5975, Windows 7 Thank you

Push the black button on the usb transever (part that plugs into the computer) .
Green light on transever will flash repeatedly.
Push and hold the button on the bottom of mouse (light gray, oval button on bottom of mouse) for five seconds, let go.
Light on the transceiver will flash a few times and then go out.
Win7 will notify (or not) that it is ready to use.
Use mouse norma-ly.
Note: Make sure gray slider switch is moved to the right and that you see a red light coming from the bottom of the mouse. If no red light replace batteries. Best not to use rechargeable batteries but if you do us the best Ni-Me (high ma 1000 or better).

Sir, i want to know about the optical mouse in detail. what is the important point of it to use. thanks, tin

Hi,
Optical mouse was developed by Agilent Technologies and introduced to the world in late 1999, the optical mouse actually uses a tiny camera to take 1,500 pictures every second. Able to work on almost any surface, the mouse has a small, red light-emitting diode (LED) that bounces light off that surface onto a complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor.
The CMOS sensor sends each image to a digital signal processor (DSP) for analysis. The DSP, operating at 18 MIPS (million instructions per second), is able to detect patterns in the images and see how those patterns have moved since the previous image. Based on the change in patterns over a sequence of images, the DSP determines how far the mouse has moved and sends the corresponding coordinates to the computer. The computer moves the cursor on the screen based on the coordinates received from the mouse. This happens hundreds of times each second, making the cursor appear to move very smoothly.
Optical mice have several benefits over wheeled mice:
No moving parts means less wear and a lower chance of failure.
There's no way for dirt to get inside the mouse and interfere with the tracking sensors.

Increased tracking resolution means smoother response.
They don't require a special surface, such as a mouse pad.

Although LED-based optical mice are fairly recent, another type of optical mouse has been around for over a decade. The original optical-mouse technology bounced a focused beam of light off a highly-reflective mouse pad onto a sensor. The mouse pad had a grid of dark lines. Each time the mouse was moved, the beam of light was interrupted by the grid. Whenever the light was interrupted, the sensor sent a signal to the computer and the cursor moved a corresponding amount. This kind of optical mouse was difficult to use, requiring that you hold it at precisely the right angle to ensure that the light beam and sensor aligned. Also, damage to or loss of the mouse pad rendered the mouse useless until a replacement pad was purchased. Today's LED-based optical mice are far more user-friendly and reliable.

Thanks and regards,

Mouse has a mind of it's own...often skipping across the screen without any assistance. Is there a patch available?

it might be due to scroll speed of mouse going bit high.
to adjust the same...click on start...control panel...mouse icon...mouse properties window would open... click on the pointers tab...adjust the pointer speed setting... this should help in fixing the issue.

regards

Monitor Goes black, or flickers on and off

The high pitch sound is coming from the inverter. It is faulty and needs to be repaired or replaced. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp, this lamp gives the backlight to the LCD so you can see the LCD images.

Cursor runs all over the screen w/o moving hp wireless mouse

Your mouse could be defective, but let's try a few things first. Try to remove any wireless devices close to it (i.e. wireless router)or try to plug it in a new USB port. Last thing try to use a very dark mousepad. The laser respond to reflection so any white on a mousepad combined with some sun light could result in a free for all mouse pointer.

You can go to : http://www.microsoft.com/enable/training/windowsme/mouse.aspx

That guide will give you directions to adjust your mouse properties. I am pretty sure your pointer speed is set to high.

USB mouse is jittery

Try the mouse on a different surface, also be sure you do not have any light directed at the mouse - this confuses the eye. Although no mouse pad is required for an optical mouse, sometimes it helps
