Cyclic redundancy error when copying backed up files into Itunes

Files with cyclic redundancy errors means these files are corrupted and cannot be copied. Since you cannot copy these files from your faulty hard disk again then these songs are lost and you need to download them again.

Hard disk cyclic redundancy check

A cyclic redundancy check error on a hard disk means that part of a file read from the hard disk doesn't match the expected value.

A cyclic redundancy check error, in other words, means that files on your hard drive are corrupted.

Right-click the hard disk with the cyclic redundancy check error under "Hard Disk Drives" and click "Properties."

Click "Check Now" under "Error Checking."

Fix a Cycle Redundancy Check Error

The "Cyclic Redundancy Check" error is a Windows error message telling you there's a problem reading data you're trying to access.

The root of this problem could either be a damaged storage device or a corrupt file.

Windows has built-in tools to attempt to fix to this problem, and avoid further errors.

Click on the "Start" menu in the bottom left-hand corner and click "Run."

Type in "cmd" and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

This will open a black command prompt box.

Type in "chkdsk /f" and press "Enter."

If you receive a message saying the disk will be checked the next time the system starts, press "Y" and then "Enter."

Restart your computer by closing the command prompt box and selecting "Shut Down" from the Start menu.

Wait for the disk scan to reach 100 per cent.

This may take awhile.

When it completes, your drive errors may be fixed.

Avoid future problems with this type of error by replacing the file that caused the problem.

For example, if you got the error when using a text document, open the document and copy all the text (press "Ctrl" and "A" at the same time and then "Ctrl" and "C" at the same time).

Create a new text document and paste the text in by pressing "Ctrl" and "V" simultaneously. Save the new file, and delete the old document.

Hope this heps

My older WD hard drive suddenly became inaccessible. I sometimes get a cyclic redundancy message and sometimes it says windows cannot access the drive. I assume I need to try data recovery? Suggestions?

This usually occurs when the drive becomes damaged or the files corrupt. You can try using thirds party disk repair software or take it in to a professional to recover.

I am getting the data error (cyclic redundancy check)

Hi,

A cyclic redundancy check, known as a CRC error, often occurs when you're attempting to transfer data to a hard drive. It's most commonly caused by an interruption in the recording process, but also can be a sign that you've got problems with your hard drive or optical drive.

Here are some steps fixed the issue:

  • Rule out problems with your computer Start by defragmenting your disk. Click the "Windows or Start" button in the lower-left corner of your computer screen and select "Control Panel." Click the "System and Security" icon. Choose "Administrative Tools," then "Defragment your hard drive." This will clear up clutter on your hard drive that could be causing the error

  • Use the CHKDSK program in Windows to see if there are other problems with your hard drive. Click the Windows or Start button and select My Computer or Computer. Right-click the drive with the CRC error. Choose Properties, then select the "Tools" tab. Click Check Now. Make sure the program will fix disk errors by checking the top square in the dialog box. Click Start.

HI GOOD EVENING I AM UNABLE TO COPY MY MICROSOFT OUTLOOK 2007 PST FILE TO EXTERNAL HARD DISK. AFTER STARTING COPY FEW MINUTES LATER I FACE THE FOLLOWING PROBLUM CANNOT COPY OUTLOOK:DATA ERROR(CYCLIC...

A "CRC" (Cyclic Redundancy Check) is caused by an disk-drive error.

When you write a "block' of data to your disk-drive, a CRC value is calculated, and is also written to the disk. When you try to read that "block" of data, the CRC value is also read from the disk,
and a new CRC is calculated from the data. If the "new" CRC does not match the "old" CRC, then you have a "check" condition -- either the data was not written correctly, or the data could not be read correctly.

Now, did the "check" message refer to the "source" of the copying operation (namely your 'C:' drive) , or the "target"(namely the external drive) ???

Try to copy the PST file to another file on your 'C:' drive.
If you do not see the "check", then it is the external disk-drive that has a problem.
If you do see the "check", then open Outlook, create a new folder,
and copy a group of messages into the new folder. If Outlook reports that one of the messages could not be copied, then the disk-space occupied by that message is faulty, and must be excluded.

Unable to copy files from cd

    Hi,
Please check with the another disk if the same issue is coming with different disks this is a ODD issue otherwise the disk is faulty as cyclic redundancy means the data could not red from the sector of the disk.
    Thanks
