Drum does not spin. Belt appears to be ok

You have a bad tensioner or a bad motor. The tensioner for the belt can drag the motor. However, what you are describing sounds like the motor is shot. But make sure you are getting correct voltage to dryer and nothing is binding the motor.

The dryer was making shrill noises for some time, then a thump noise, now the drum wont turn. I think it is the belt, but the belt is still intact... Where on the drum does the belt go? and what else might...

The belt may have jumped off the tension pulley. Check to make sure the belt is tight around the drum and all pulleys, then check whether all pulleys and rollers turn freely.

Motor/Drum doesn't turn/spin & belt appears to be OK

With the belt off can you spin the motor freely by hand? If no then the bearings are froze and the motor has to be replaced. If yes and the motor will not start when power is applied then the motor needs to be replaced. If it starts without the belt on but not with, then the drum is bound somewhere and has to be freed.

The drum does not turn.

there are two potential problems. firstis te belt to the drum drive pully from th moter. this is the easiest. take off the back panel an seeif the belt is intact. if so run through a cycle and see if the motor spins or triesto spin. if not this is most likely thesuspect. one plug three screws and about100 dollarsfixes te motor. hope this helps.

WMA54 Hotpoint Aquarius drum does not turn during wash or spin

If the machine pumps water inside but does not start :

Start checking the lid switch, if this is stuck the machine wont start.

If the drum does not move at all, the motor, the motor control unit, the motor coupler, the control board may be faulty.

For more details , see: It doesn't spin
