Question about Nikon D70s Digital Camera

1 Answer

When I put my 18-70 mm lens on my Nikon D70, the top right corner of the screen flashes F- - and will not take pictures. The only way it will take pictures is if I put it on M, and when that happens the picture is dark and nothing shows up. Adjusting the ISO does not help. I have tried taking the lens off and on again, many times. This has never happened before. When I put my other lens on, it's fine. Any tips, I have my first big photo shoot tomorrow! Thank you!

it had to do with the aperture ring on the lens - make sure it's locked. You'll need to lock you aperture ring at the largest aperture, in order to make the body work it's magic. If you by an accident twist the AP ring you'll get the "F--" error

If you're using G type lenses this is not at problem due to the lack of AP ring on those type of lenses

Can't take picture. "F" is flashing

Flashing "F--" means the camera is not recognizing the lens or a non CPU lens is attached. Try manual mode. Taake battery out of camera, remove lends and clean electrical contacts on lens and camera body with moistened swab, Put back together. Remove battery with camera "ON" and hold down shutter button for about 30 seconds. Put battery back in and turn on. Then Press hardware reset button on camera bottom.

When i try to take a picture with my Nikon D70, i get a flashing fEE in the top right hand corner of the meter display. I'm wondering what that means and how to fix it.

I know of three causes:-

1. The first depends on what type of lens you are using. If you have a lens with a manual aperture setting ring, you need to turn this to its smallest aperture (biggest number) and then move the small locking ab acoss to lock it in this position.

2. Its also possible you have a damaged lens. There is a small tab which fits into the body of the camera and these can be broken. If possible try with another lens.

3. In my case I saw this a few times and it was just caused by the contact between lens and body not being 100%. Tightening lens a little solved it on each occasion.

Hope one of these helps you.

Nikon D70 with brand new Sandik ultra11 2gb flash card error CHR

Go to the Nikon site and upgrade the firmware on your D70 to version 2.0.

Before doing that, try turning the camera off, wait a min, then back on. That sometimes clears the error. The D70 is having trouble reading the card(s) you're putting in. The upgrade fixes that.

I have a Nikon d70, and I can not get it to display only one image on the LCD screen. I have held down the button on the top right side as directed, but to no avail. Help Jb

Push your playback button once the camera is on.
Then push you your thumbnail button. (this is the second button from your playback)
watch your monitor and keep hitting the thumbnail button until you get to the single picture view.

D70 internal flash not firing

Check if something is preventing the flash to pop up 'fully'. Check for some dust or other particles trapped between the flash and the body. Does the screen say 'Subject is too dark'? If so, the flash has not popped up fully.

Does Nikon D70 come with an additonal bottom to plug in Bowen Flashfill

Are you using the built in speedlight on the camera with the lens hood fitted? If you are this will cast a shadow. Try removing the lens hood when using the pop up flash.

Nikon D70 flash doenot fire

According to my information, the camera may need a new flash PCB (printed circuit board). Check the repair service search on this site for someone in your area. The part number for the circuit board is: 1S014-020-1 and runs about 50$
