That does happen, rarely is there anything you can do. Removing the screws underneath, which may be hidden under a sticker will reveal the micro switches. If you don't hear a click when testing the button next to your ear, your done. If you do, you could try adjusting the distance between the lever pads and the switch. This should only be temporary while you shop online for a nice G series mouse from Logitech. These mice are well worth the money.

No need to rate this reply Helpful or Thanks for Trying. I'm only giving you advice. That is unless you are good with a soldering iron and can swap the two switches, in which case you will be back in business.

Good luck,
Worldvet

usually this is a sign of the button getting clogged or worn down from use. Best bet would be to get a new mouse, gaming mice have very high quality buttons ;)

The left mouse button doesnt work every 4th press...

I believe the switch inside the left mouse button has worn out or broken that made you think after pressing 4 times you were able to trigger the switch and make the mouse to work. You may open your mouse carefully to see if this is the case. If not please follow the below steps as you might need to configure the mouse double click speed.
Open control panel>Double click on the mouse icon>Button Tab>Double Click section>Adjust your double click speed.

Hi, my left clicker on my Sony Vaio stopped working. The right clicker works as well as the scroll pad but clicking on the scroll pad doesn't work as well. I have tried rebooting, installing the mouse...

More then likely the button has worn out.The first thing I would try to check to see if its the button or not ,just plug a mouse in to the laptop and see if that works with left click if it does it just may need a new button put in.If your handy you may even be able to do it yourself. If you have any other questions just let me know.

Advent 5401 left touchpad button broken

Had a similar problem a couple of months ago, The left button started playing up, not working with every mouse click, it gradualy got worse till it was nearly unusable.. I suspected that the microswitch under the silver button had some dirt in it. After taking a deep breath I removed the battery and the screws that hold the case lower and upper halves together and was able to seperate the case front by about 3/4 of an inch. Then using a contact cleaner Servisol Super 10 and supplied flexible straw I squirted cleaner into both mouse click buttons. After waiting for cleaner to evaporate and resecuring case halves and replacing battery I switched on .... The button works 100%..

Replace worn touchpad buttons HP compaq 6820s

It's better and easier to just replace the whole touch pad assembly and top cover. It's all one piece...much easier and cost is the same.
