Hi, You need to install the drivers/kies. Please download from the website and after installing once you plug in the phone it will ask for options (e.g. mass storage, pc sync or any other)

My Samsung Wave GT-S8500 is running Bada 1.0. It is not recognised as an external drive when connected to my laptop via its USB cable, nor can I connect to it by Bluetooth. My laptop is an Acer Aspire...

This may be happening because Samsung Wave GT-S8500 drivers are not properly installed on your Acer Aspire running Windows 7 64-bit (SP 1).

you can go to device manger in your pc and you will see the last option universal serial bus controller expand this and remove samsung related everything under this or everything under this and restart your pc. and try to connect Samsung Wave GT-S8500 again. make sure your pc is also connected to internet in case it needs something from internet it will do automatically or will prompt you do get something downloaded from online.
Hope this will fix the problem.

Can't get my phone connect to my PC via usb have

You have to install Samsung Studio on your pc.
If you are just going to transfer music and movies, mass storage will do.
You may also opt to get a memory card reader, insert the memory card there then transfer music and videos and other files.

I have a samsung "wave" and I can't figure out how

Set to 'Ask on Connection' from the Settings > Connectivity > USB.This way when you connect
the phone to the PC, you can select Kies.
If its still not connecting, try connecting it in mass storage
mode first to install the drivers. Connect it via USB and select mass storage mode when the list
appears on the phone. You should see drivers installing on your PC screen. Then disconnect the
phone and reconnect it. This time select Kies and it should connect to the software now.

Also, you may have noticed that when you plug the phone in that a message appears saying
"close all applications" To do this press the middle button on your phone for a few seconds
until, "end all applications" appear. Once this has been done connect your phone and every thing
should work fine.

hey h buddy....
the problem lies with the software failure, coz when u formatted the phone and usb via mass storage mode, all files in c drive(phone memory) has got deleted, which causes some of the menu not tofunction, the only solution is to flash ur phone software from the nearest samsung serice centre,it also updates your mobile software which increases the mobile speed....
thank you.....take care................

Mass storage refers to a memory card. Does your phone have one? If not you can only save a limited amount of stuff to the phone memory via your PC studio
