Manual for refrigerator e521trt

I have a E521TRT as well. It seems to beep incessantly overnight on humid days. My "fix" is to turn it off for a couple of hours, possibly pressing the button inside. It does seem to display error codes on the thermometer LED indicators. Attached is a photo. Product code is 32105-A. Be great if there was a service manual which explained all this.

What shld settings be as food is freezing in fridge it has side by side knobs saying colder mid less cold it is a westinghouse fan forced frost free freestyle unit

The settings are "relative". Someone with this fridge in Montana may need to run the same fridge with different settings than someone in Texas to get the same temperatures.

Many manufacturers recommend that the fresh food compartment should be 34 degrees F, and the freezer -10 to 0 degrees F. To set this properly, place a thermometer in the freezer (that can display temperatures as low as the desired temperature). Adjust the thermometer for the correct freezer temperature before going on to the fridge. A fully stocked freezer could take 12 hours or more for temperatures to stabilize after making changes to the thermostat. Once the -10 to 0 degree temperature has been achieved, set the fresh food compartment temperature.

Place a thermometer (that can display below freezing) in a 6 (or so) oz flexible plastic cup of water and place on a shelf in the fridge. A glass of water could break if the temperature gets below 32 degrees if the water turns to ice. The water acts as a buffer to rapidly changing temperatures when the door is opened to read the thermometer. If the fridge is "full", allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize before making changes.

If the fridge and freezer are empty, changes may be seen in just a few hours or less. Otherwise, wait the 12 / 24 hours for the freezer / fridge compartments.

I hope this helps and good luck!

I have just purchased the above unit and has been plugged in now for 24hrs with no food, the high humidity warning sign Is illuminated constantly Is this correct?? Also I have yet to witness the operation...

You didn't include a manufacturer or model, so I can only offer general help with your problem. If you choose to provide this info later, you may get better, more specific help. The freezer compartment contains the cooling coil for the freezer and fresh food compartments. This fan in many fridges are not visible - but yours may be. Yours may also have circulation fans specifically for moving air around the fresh food compartment.

Generally, the coil is located in a protected area of the freezer (behind the back panel). The fan is arranged to pull air from the freezer floor through the coil to be cooled and blown out the top of the freezer compartment. Openings between the freezer and fresh food compartment allows a portion of the cold air to be blown into the fresh food compartment.

The first thing to do is to see what the temperatures are in both compartments. The fresh food should be about 36 degrees and freezer -10 to 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a glass thermometer (capable of displaying 32 degrees and up) in a glass filled with cold tap water, and place in the fresh food compartment. Place another thermometer in the freezer (capable of reading -10 and up). You can also use thermometers designed for fridge / freezer temperatures if you wish.

If there is nothing in the fridge and the door remains shut, the temperature should be seen in an hour or so. If the temperature range is obtainable, it is not likely that there is a humid condition INSIDE the fridge. You may have moisture collecting on the OUTSIDE of the fridge near doors, etc. If so, locate a humidity switch and turn it on. Many manufacturers provide this switch to turn on electric heaters in the outer part of the fridge cabinet where moisture tends to form in humid climates. These heaters operate to evaporate the moisture on the cabinet and usually come on when the freezer defrost circuit is on.

I hope this helps and good luck!

What temperament should i put on my fridge?

Most fridge manufacturer's suggest 34 degrees F (but no lower) for the fresh food compartment, and 0 degrees F (lower is O.K.) for the freezer.

Measure temperature on the fresh food compartment by placing a thermometer in a 6 - 8 ounce glass filled with cold water. Place the glass with the thermometer on a shelf in the fridge. Wait about an hour or two (assuming the door stays shut) and check temperature. The water is to minimize changes shown on the thermometer when you open the fridge door.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

Hello what temp should i have my fridge/freezer at the freezer unit is working but the top is warm, thanks, Sheryl

Sheryl -

Most manufacturer's suggest 0 deg F for the freezer, and 34 deg F for fresh food compartment. You determine the fresh food temperature by filling a 6 to 8 oz glass with cold water and placing a thermometer (capable of reading 32 deg F) in the water. Place the glass & thermometer on a shelf in the fridge. Allow it to assume the temperature on the fridge and hour or so. The glass of water is to minimize rapid increase in temperatures seen when the door opens.

Make your adjustments from there. Allow temperatures to stabilize for up to 24 hours if the fridge is full, much less if empty before making additional changes.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

The fridge keeps beeping every few hours and you need to keep pressing the button in when it beeps also thetop of the fridgeis not cold as it should be

Generally either the fridge of freezer internal fan motor isn't working. The beeping is telling you there is something wrong. You can check this with a strong magenet on the door switch. Leave one door closed and put the magenet on the door switch and the light will go off. Then feel the back of the internal wall and see if you can feel air movement. Then check the other compartment the same way.

I am having LG GR-B352 YC , what is the best temperature that i can keep initially and future??

Generic instructions to set temperatures in fridges:

Many manufacturers design these appliances to operate at 0 degrees F in the freezer and 34 to 36 degrees F in the fresh food compartment.

To set the temperature correctly, fill a glass with water (8 to 12 ounces) and place a thermometer capable of indicating 32 degrees and up into the glass with water (if the temperature goes below 32 degrees, the water will freeze - so no need to find a thermometer that indicates any lower). Place the glass with the thermometer in it on a shelf and wait. Putting the thermometer in a glass of water helps preserve the temperature reading while the door is open. You can skip the water and glass if you want - but you'll need to read the temperature as soon as you open the door.

The freezer will require a thermometer capable of displaying 0 degrees F. Place it on a shelf where it can be seen readily - but preferably in the rear - between items (to prevent the warm air from driving the indicator up when opening the door to read it).

It will probably be easier to set the freezer temperature first. Adjust both the freezer and fresh food thermostats to mid-points (if the fridge is empty - otherwise skip this step). Adjust the freezer thermostat up or down as needed to reach the desired 0 degree F temperature.

Once the freezer adjustments are complete, adjust the fresh food compartment thermostat as needed up or down to reach the desired temperature for it.

If you fridge is fully stocked, it may take some time for the temperature to stabilize and warm / cool the fridge's contents completely. This is further affected by how often the door(s) are opened and for how long. 24 hours is often claimed - but you might be able to sneak an 8 - 12 hour soak before reading the thermometers.

After the temperatures are set, you may find that the lower part of the fresh food area is partially freezing - simply adjust the thermometer up *slightly* as needed.

Please rate this reply if it was helpful - good luck!

Fisher Paykel Fridge. Access to fridge fan.

My fridge is 11 years old and recently had the same problem; the freezer was cooling well, but the fridge compartment was not cooling enough. I searched the Web a read most answers. I thought the fan was faulty, but in fact it wasn't (the fridge has got 2 fans, one for each compartment, and they look very similar, the part number on mine was 883340). The whole problem was a build-up of ice in the condenser unit that is at the back of the freezer compartment. What happens is that the ice blocks the passage of air the fan for the fridge compartment. This of course stops the cool air circulating to the fridge compartment. I was able to repair the fridge an it is now working perfectly. This is what I did:
1) Removed everything from the fridge, food, shelves, the lot.
2) I made sure the fan for the fridge compartment was okay, by connecting it to a 9V battery; the fan was okay. (I did this because after reading the posts I was convinced the problem was a dead fan, but you can skip this step if you can hear the fan spinning and think it is okay). To check the fan, remove by pulling the toll plastic cover that fits below the smaller plastic cover with the temperature indicator. This cover is very flexible and flimsy, start pulling from near the bottom and continue along the right side, flexing it as you go along, until it comes free (there is an insulating plastic foam moulding underneath that comes with it). As soon as you remove this cover, you will see the small fan and the plugs. Unplug the fan's connector (it has a small lock you need to press) and wire it to a standard 9 volt battery. CAUTION: observe polarity! The battery positive terminal MUST be connected to the RED wire (or the fan burns!). If the fan is bad, you can remove it very easily by inserting 2 finger inside the white plastic holder, pushing the fan in (the fan is held with 3 very elastic thin silicon bands, that do not break) ,hooking the holder from the inside edge with your fingers and pulling. It will just come out through the slot. (I did this, but then had some problem in getting it back in place. I finally left it in a near flat position, but not quite as flat as it was. Nevertheless it works okay).
3) My fan was good (I wasted a lot of time doing this), so next I shifted my attention to the freezer compartment. I then noticed that the plastic cover at the bottom of the compartment was half dislodged from its proper location, all covered on ice. I removed the cover, breaking the ice that held it with care. This cover is difficult to remove, there is a lot of pushing and pulling, so be prepared and patient; do not break it (mine came out with a small locking leg broken, but it did go back in place without any problems). I then checked the second fan, that is on this cover; it was also okay.
4) As soon as I removed the cover I saw the problem...ice everywhere! I reached for the house hair drier and after about one hour it was all gone. Note that most of the problem ice is behind the condenser (small radiator looking aluminum frame, that should be left alone. Do not move, push or twist it).
5) once all the ice was removed, I the carefully pushed the radiator back in place at the bottom of the compartment (it just fits and had been displaced by the growth of ice), and replaced the plastic cover.
6) and voila! my fridge was again working perfectly. About 3 hours flat.

Beeping constantly in middle of night

My fridge (E440T but I believe the E522B is similar) also had a broken fan wire. I pulled off the panel and re-soldered the wire. I also created a document for others to follow if interested at http://www.accentis.com.au/downloads/misc/How I fixed my Fisher and Paykel Fridge Active Smart Fridge.pdf
Thanks to all postings on this site - it really helped a lot.
