SOURCE: Kenmore series 90 dryer

I hae to say it, but it sounds like the motor has already gone out. That loud humming noise is usually the start windings going out. There is no other way easily to tell if the motor is out, but taking the belt off and saying it doesnt look broke what work in this situation. I would imagine that you have a DOTT (Dryer Of Tommorrow, Today) dryer, because you said it had the front panel. The motor part number is 279787 if this the case. Good Luck, and let me know if you find out any new information or need further help.

SOURCE: I have a maytag dryer DG712 that needs the belt replaced

Should be able to take the back off. should see several screws holding the back on, The removable back is usually a metallic color and not the same color as the cabinet If not, while looking at the back notice where the top and back meet in the seam there should be a metallic looking clip or hinge with a screw in it. Lossen screw dont take it all the way out then go to the front of the dryer and where the seam is between the top and cabinet take a flashlight and look for the two clips are in the seam take a flat tip screw driver and push in on both of these and without marking up the dryer lift with screwdriver against the top. Top should open up then you should be able to get to the belt easier.

SOURCE: Changing a dryer belt on a Maytag DE410

in some models you do it from the front the drum sits on 2 bogie wheels and the belt sits behind ,lift drum off bogie wheels and thread belt around pulley it should be on a spring tensioner and it allows you to swing pulley up or down try to thread belt around drum and replace drum back on bogie wheels.... in some dryers you may need to thread belt on drum and then onto pulley good luck

I'm looking for a manual for white Westinghouse spacemates 3 to change dryer drum belt

You can do it without a manual. Unplug the unit. Remove the screws on the back that hold the top lid on. Look down inside the back and you will see the belt running from a pulley on the motor to a large pulley on the drum. It may has the access through a rear panel. Most don't need an adjustment for tension, just peel the old one off if necessary and replace the new one. Take the serial numbers etc off the plate on the back when you look for a new belt. Check the drum and motor rotate smoothly before fitting the new belt.

Older model dryer--drum will no longer spin. Need

The model number you provided is for a White Westinghouse. In order the access the internal cabinet to view the drum, you will need to lift the top panel. This is accomplished by inserting a putty knife along the front seam where the top meets the front of the dryer. About 2 inches in from each side is a small retaining clip. Push in with the putty knife and the top should pop free and lift up. The belt should be visible around the drum if it still intact. If the belt is loose, or missing, it has probably broken.

NOTE: The only way a belt will come off the drum while enclosed in the cabinet is if it breaks.

CAUTION: Make sure you UNPLUG the dryer before servicing. Dangerous voltage is still present inside the dryer even with it turned off.

To access the drum to replace the belt, you will need to remove the front panel. Remove the lint screen and lint screen cover in the door, first. Then, remove any screws holding the panel in place. The belt can be installed with the drum in place. Simply loop it around the drum first, then feed the remaining portion of the belt behind the blower fan housing and loop it on to the drive motor pulley and belt tensioner.

The part number for a replacement belt (if required) is 134503600. You can purchase a new one at any of the following websites:

Prices vary between these sites, so shop around for the best deal. The first three sites also offer very helpful exploded view parts diagrams you can use as reference. will have diagrams to show up how to properly route the dryer belt. Just click on the "Repair Help" link, followed by the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the "Special Features" section. Refer to Diagram G under Westinghouse.

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: If the belt isn't the problem, please let me know.

How do I replace the belt on a White Westinghouse dryer

Unplug unit.
Use putty knife and unfasten the clips that hold the top down. Usually located where the top meets the body of the unit.
Top will lift up and hinge back.
Take back inspection plate off. This should allow access to motor pulley and tension pulley.
Pull tension pulley back and slid old belt off.
Just do the reverse to install the new one.

Hope this gets it done for you.

Unsure how to access drier to put on new drive belt

Here is my own solution...
Disconnect from mains (of course) remove top (2 screws at back near top) Unplug electric connectors (on back panel, top RHS). Make sure note what goes where! Lie unit down on front remove screws (2) holding the drum spindle cover (centre of back) and remove cover pop off the circlip holding drum spindle, and washer unscrew back panel - hex headed screws round outside of back Remove screws at bottom of back panel which screw into the plastic vent housing (3 I think) Lift whole back off. (there's a plastic lip at bottom - need to pull away from this a bit) The drum spindle will be unsupported now, so don't move unit Full access now to drum and motor beneath Get and put on new belt reassemble.
Actually, having got into unit, found could not get belt from local spares shop (it had closed down), so bought new drier!

Replacing the belt

Here is a belt supplier

Tilt the unit and see if you can get to the drum and motor assembly, if not then You will need to remove screws on the right or left side of dryer to open access to motor and drum. The belt diagram should be accurate for this dryer.
