Fisher and Paykel 23 in. DD603H SS Free-standing Dishwasher Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 13, 2011

I have a Fisher and Paykel DD603 which was working well however i ran through some service tests. Whilst doing so i managed to flood the unit. F1 initial came on the lower drawer, then both drawers. Now i have no power to the bottom drawer and F1 on the top drawer. I've followed the advise on read on some other feeds and have removed both drawers and dried out for 20 odd minutes with a hair dryer. Can anyone help ? i really don't wan't to call out a service guy as i'm sure with the right advice i can resolve this issue myself....help :)

The power filter board at the base of the dishwasher has gone faulty or you may have dislocated a connector on the filter board at the base of the dishwasher. This is the same board that has the flood switch on it.

The connector provides power to the drawers. If this is not the case then the filter board itself will have gone faulty with the water falling on it.

This part can be got from this site. The worst scenario is that you ran the heater on the lower drawer with no water causing the heater fuse to blow. This cuts the power to the drawer controller. This is very expensive to replace as the fuse is integral to the heater. Unfortunately you will not will be able to get rid of the F1 on top drawer until the power to bottom controller is restored.

The reason water spilt out is because you did not have the lid seal on when you ran the wash pump.
Make sure the mains plug is taken out when working on the dishwasher.

Please confirm which parts have you changed and on which drawer.

Remove the top drawer controller and replace it on the bottom drawer and see if the bottom drawer is functional.

Model DD603. Why wasn't flood sensor working?

F1 Flood should have triggered. There is a small, 2 post sensor located under the cover and parts assembly (to the right hand side) of the Mains board (under the plastic cover in the left, lower, rear portion of the base - under the bottom drawer - #10 & 19 in the drawing) and this should trigger with a very small amount of water in the base pan. Maybe dirty, bent or disconnected sensor?? Otherwise, likely a bad comms harness or control board. This is very unusual - never encountered it in 20 years of F&P service. I personally have two of them. One of our kids have it too. We love the F&P dishdrawers.

Note: to actually get correct parts you MUST have the full model and product codes.

Fisher paykel dd603 - both drawer units just come on and won't turn off - turn off power several times at breaker - tried reset - turns off briefly then comes back on -

There is water collected at the base of the dishwasher which is tripping flood switch. Will need to disconnect power and take the bottom drawer out and dry out the base. Need to find source of the leak. Most likely the lid seal or hoses.

DD603 Does Seal need replacement? F1 Error Code

F1 error code appears because moisture has been detected by the flood switch on the base of the housing under the drawer.

If you think the door seal was not fitting properly then that too can cause moisture leak into base of the unit where the flood switch is located. Steam condensation would also lead to moisture.

Best option might be to replace the door seal for the top drawer. This is not a trivial thing as the unit has motor actuated door seal which can be tricky to fit back in.

Also avoid foaming in the detergent by using the correct powder and not tablets.

Please rate this solution if you are satisfied otherwise post a comment.

Fisher & Paykel DD603 both drawers turn on and blink the code Fl. I turned it off at the breaker and cleaned it. let stand for 24 hrs and reconected still does same thing

It is not clear if the problem started suddenly or whether you have been doing some reconnection / renovation work and have reconnected the dishwashers.

F1 means the flood switch is activated, ie, the dishwasher is not able to control the inlet water.

This happening at the same time in both drawers is hard to understand. Have you tried shutting off and turning on the water supply? Is there any chance the water pressure has changed from the normal for your supply.- How to check what pressure your unit is set for is shown in the user guide - HP or LP. But I am not sure you can check that if the F1 display comes on.

You will need a technician to look at it if problem does not go away.

Doulbe Draw model receiving an F1 error message.

F1 indicates flood switch has been activated. I wouldn't advise you attempt repair on these drawers- they really require an expert to disassemble (I worked for F+P for 10 years!!). Depending on which model you have (DD603 or DD601v2), repair varies. 603 has a small circuit board that acts as flood switch- located in base beneath drawer- requires drawer to be removed for access. 601v2 model has polystyrene float that acts as flood switch-leaks usually caused by split lid seal(tricky to access- drawer has to be removed) In either case, a leak has occurred and activated flood switch. These drawers are very sensitive to detergents (don't use tablets!!), and the way they are loaded.
Would suggest you get service technician to remedy F1 fault

E-mail for Fisher Paykel DD603 manual

Josh, you will need to have a Tech out to look at it... F/P will not sell you parts to repair it. The F1 indicates that the flood switch has been tripped. There are many possible causes for this but probably the upper drawer link support has broken and is getting stuck between the lid and the drawer in which case you will need a new lid and link support.

My f & p dishdrawer model DD603 has fault code F1:

Yes, you need to gain access to the inside bottom panel of the dishdrawer and drain/dry the water in the bottom panel. When all of the water is gone the polystyrene block will lower and turn off the flood system. You then need to find the reason the unit flooded and rectify it or the unit will just do the same thing again.
