Question about Baumatic B185 Stainless Steel Electric Single Oven

1 Answer

I have a B06FS oven and is only 3 months old. I keep burning cakes and I've tried different cooking modes. The manual isn't real easy to understand either. By the manual the way I'm cooking the cakes is on fan forced with a top temperature of 165 deg, so why are they burning after 15 minutes?

The fan blasts hot air onto them, accelerating the evaporation of water on the surface of the cake - when all the water is gone the temperature soars and the sugars in the top crust start to caramelize and eventually carbonize.
Stop using the fan and lower the temperature - the indications in the manual are generic and they do not match with the compositions you are using. Like in every baking project it's a trial and error process until you get the right one.

What temp do you cook cakes in if you do not have a fan forced oven

Different kinds of cakes require different temperatures. Most cookbooks tell you what temp to use for each recipe. Same goes for cake mixes. The instructions on the box are way smarter than me.

Oven burning food

Don't worry my wife does the same thing. Not sure if your talking about the range top or the baking potion. We'll assume the baking area. If your using cheap bakeware that could be part of the problem try using a different cake or loaf pan of heavy construction. Also you may try reducing your temp in 25 degree increments to see if your oven runs hot. Example buy 3 cheap frozen pizzas and if they say value at 400 try 375 , 350, and 325. If one of those temps gives the desired result assist accordingly and consider contracting Bosch customer service to inquire about how to fix thermostat errors.hope that helps I didn't have much to work with.

Faulty range/oven parts aren't the only worry a gas range owner has; the threat of carbon monoxide is very real and should be paid close attention to when doing repairs on the range.

If your range or oven gives off soot, you definitely have a carbon monoxide problem. Soot is the result of inefficient or incomplete combustion. There are always elevated levels of carbon monoxide with soot production. Properly adjusted range/oven parts do not give off soot. You may have poorly adjusted gas pressure, the air shutter may need to be opened, or you may be supplying fuel the oven isn't designed to handle. Don't use natural gas in liquid propane stove or vice-versa.

Increase Engine horsepower.

Belling built in fan oven (XOU60FP)is overheating

Have same problem, I am repairing our 648HM double oven. Top oven overheats. I am an electronics engineer. I found that top oven fan has failed, this is the first thing to replace. The grill element also failed which maybe due to the overheating oven. NIGEL

Simpson Evolution 904 wall oven cooks very unevenly

I agree, the heating is very uneven in our oven, however, when I calibrated the temperature with a thermocouple, I discovered that the temperature gauge was 25C too hot! That is, if I set the oven temperature gauge to 155C, it was actually 180C inside the oven! Taking this in to account, it is now much easier to cook things without them burning.

Amana Convection oven not controlling temp

I have just checked the baking guide in the manual and have found that it may not be us after all. (Maybe this is why they telll us to read the whole manual. Well, I never have) According to the cooking time for Baking, the range is very extensive. For example, an angel cake at 350 could take from 28-50 minutes, buscuits at 375-400 could take 8-16 minutes, layer cakes at 350-375 could take 25-40 minutes, pound cakes at 325-350 could take 45-70 minutes and fresh pies at 400-450 could take 35-60 minutes. Basically, the baking directions on the box means absolutely nothing to use Amana oven owners. We have no choice but to cook our food or baked goods until they are cooked, whenever that may be. :) Linda
