Sorry, wrong window, here is your answer: Unplug your laptop and remove the battery then install it again. If that does not work it's batter you take it to service centre. There may be some problem with your RAM or graphics card. You can also try it yourself by checking whether the RAM is properly installed or not.

YOU are to be COMMENDED!

Do you know how many do not even post the manufacturer name of the computer, much less the model number?

Plus adding the diagnostic measures you have posted?

Wish more people would use the problem area you have used, and wrote a PAGE! lol!

Do need the model number though, along with the model series number you posted. This way I can look at the BIOS versions.
(Example - CQ50-100CA)

Need to ask.........is CDROM the first boot device in Boot Options?
(BIOS Setup)

Could be of course, but you didn't post it. Makes a BIG difference.
The computer HAS to boot from the CDROM, then.

Post back in a Comment.

Acer aspire 5004 black screen after BIOS completes loading

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

All the lights come on when I switch on my HP Pavillion dv9600 but the screen is blank.

DO THIS FIRST - Perform a hard reset If a PC suddenly fails to boot properly, you should perform a hard reset as the first procedure.
  1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. You want to test the computer not the accessories!
  2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds .
  3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not connect the battery), Press the Power button, Look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and Listen for sounds of a disk drive and fan turning.
Actions to take after performing hard reset If no error message is displayed:

If a text error message is displayed, see Troubleshooting Error Messages on a Black Screen During Startup or Boot c02076104.jpg

Black Screen with No Error Messages Connect an external monitor c02076105.gif If there is a problem with the LCD display's back light or a corrupted graphics driver, the display may appear blank but the notebook may be displaying information. Attach an external monitor to test the display. If the image displays on the external monitor, there may be a graphics driver conflict. To resolve this, turn on the computer and press f8 key, then select Enable low-resolution video . If the image displays on the LCD display in low resolution, you can download and install the latest drivers for your specific graphics driver. If there is an image on the external monitor but the notebook display remains black, contact HP for technical assistance. Disconnect all peripherals and repeat the hard reset Even though users are instructed to disconnect all peripheral devices from the notebook when doing a hard reset , some devices are often overlooked. c02069237.gif Double-check that all devices are disconnected including: external keyboard and mouse (wired or wireless), USB connected external drives and devices, thumb drives and flash drives, network storage devices, PC card, SD memory cards, express card, eSata connections, firewire or similar devices, printer, scanner, camera, port replicator, or docking station, any CD/DVD from the optical disc drive, and any media from the multi-card reader.B

My toshiba l300 only has a black screen!! when i start it up the lights come on at the bottom but the screen remains blank!!

L300 series laptops are very good normally but don't boot up if there is a device in the USB slot or a CD/DVD in the drive.
If it still refuses to POST, remove the AC Adapter, remove the battery and remove the hard drive.
Power the unit up without the hard drive and it should complete POST and complain that there is no hard drive. If that doesn't work remove AC adapter, ensure battery is disconnected and remove hard drive and RAM. Try again. If it still doesn't work, you have a mother board fault and it needs a service centre.
If it does work at one of the options, when you have closed the laptop down, replace the RAM first and test, then the Hard Drive.
Hope this fixes your problem.

remove all attached devices like printers or flash drives. remove battery and power on using ac adapter only. if it still wont work, try another good ac adapter. make sure ac adapter light is on. if it still shows the power light on and nothing else, replace motherboard.

Toshiba satellite p25 s5093. won't boot.

The system cannot find your hard drive so it is trying to boot from the next device which is thinks is a network drive. Check the attachment of the hard drive, sometimes they can come loose from the interface. Remove the hard drive and place it back. If the machine still cannot read the drive, try another hard drive to see if the drive is the problem or is it a problem with the interface. Make sure to remove any discs from the cd/dvd players and make sure no usb network adapters are in it while booting. Check the boot order again.

Black blank screen Lenovo 3000 N100

You say the laptop all of a sudden flashed off.

How old is the laptop? You may have suffered one of two things? First of all, if the hard drive will not boot back up, even after using the recovery discs, then that would explain it powering off. I have seen this happen on old desktop hard drives.

Next, try to get the transformer or adapter tested. It may not be putting out enough amperage to run the laptop.

This error is telling you there is nothing for the laptop to boot from.
The PXE meanes the laptop is trying to boot from the network adapter. If there is a hard drive in the laptop, then remove it and reinsert it again.
It could have suffered a catastrophic hard drive failure, or it could be just having an issue.
Also try putting a bootable cd/dvd into the drive and see if it will boot at least from that. If it does and you have access to another PC (you obviously do) and a cd burner, then search the net for "Hirens Boot Disc" download it and burn it.
This is a bootable cd that has a lot of tools for diagnostics of hard drives and a myriad of other things as well.
