Lexmark 8350 won't communicate with computer

I can't get my Lexmark X8350 to communicate with my Dell computer. I've gone thru all the steps that Lexmark Solution Center suggests by checking the USB cable, the power cord, restarting the computer, uninstalling & reinstalling the Lexmark software, unplugging printer from power surge and plugging it single outlet, all to no avail. Please, please help me as I've had the printer too long to return it to place of purchase and I gave my HP (which worked fine but was older model) away. I want and need to print. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    i have tried several times to connect my x8350 to my dimensions 3100 dell computer but it will not accept it.

    when i connect the usb lead to the front of the computer, it comes up that there is a power surge.

    when i connect usb lead into the rear of the computer it just shuts down

    i dont know what else i can do, please can you help?

    After installing the software my computer indicates that the insallation was unsuccessful. It seems the computer is correct because the printer does not print.

    i am desprate for help i have lemark2500 series all in one printer and adell some give me that;s almost new my printer work fine before i cant install the disk it won't install i don't what 2 do i've tried everything please help

I do not know the solution to this problem because I am having the exact same problem with the scanner feature of my device - all other features work. I spent most of yesterday (Monday) on the phone with the Lexmark technicians going through all of their troubleshooting techniques, but to no avail. I had high hopes of success when a "Level II" Tech called late last night, but he could not stay on the phone with me while I executed the instructions. After uninstalling and reinstalling, and uninstalling and reinstalling the software multiple times, I am still right back where I started --- no scanner communication.

Hi.

maybe the usb cable went completely, you can try to replace it with another, also Ive heard lexmark power supplies can go bad without notice, can you copy standalone with it? you should. if not then check power output with a multimeter. Is your new dell running on vista? you may have to download a driver specific for vista and lexmark from lexmark website NOT the XP driver the VISTA driver, I had to do that with mine. just a couple ideas. good luck

Lexmark X8350 "communication not available"

I fixed this by completely uninstalling the Lexmark software, then unplugging the USB and restarting. I then installed the new Lexmark software that I downloaded from their site, make sure not to plug the USB back in until it told me to. It then detected the printer properly and started working.

You can find and download the driver for this printer directly from Lexmark. Follow the link below and then select "Drivers and Downloads" along the top border, then select "driver finder" on the left hand side of the page. Then type 8350 in the "search by model" box.
