Question about HTC TyTN Smartphone

Sorry if I didn't reply properly to your response about the HTC tilt

Comment by oblina, posted on Aug 01, 2008 thanks for the reply, but I don't know where to reset to factory defaults. Could you please elaborate? I have really been struggling with this inconvenient anomaly. I think it has something to do with windows media player, and maybe to do with my headset...? and I can't seem to uninstall it...

    Thank you for elaborating.

After I asked for more help, I googled to find more information about a hard reset and learned that this will completely delete everything I have on added to the phone.

I will try this solution, but I must say that I am surprised by your omission of a warning that I will lose all of my data unless it is on my sim card.

When I ask for help, and I would think this to be true of others seeking help, I would hope that you would "assume" that I might not know this. You should NEVER advise anyone, even a so-called fellow EXPERT, which I am not, to do something that will cause a LOSS OF DATA, without a proper warning of this and to tell them how to back it up (in this case I know how, but not everyone does). That's why I came here for help.

Please, I hope, you will accept my feedback and that I say all this, not with intent to insult you or your technical expertise, but with the hope of someone else avoiding a situation where they make their problem worse instead of better because of taking advice and not knowing the risks.

You will have to do a master or "hard" reset which will reset your phone to factory state. This can be done via Tapping Start > Settings > System tab, then tap Clear Storage and input "1234". Conversely you can also hard reset your phone by holding both your softkeys (the physical keys that map to left and right menu options) and using your stylus to hit the reset button while holding those two softkeys.

Hope this may help

My friend, I don't know what your question is though it is obvious you are upset about something. I don't recognize your question nor your 'handle' and I don't believe I replied to you at any other time.

I can tell you that the people who answer questions here are, by and large competent and caring, reasonable people and reasonably good at what they do. Some are professional and others (like me) learned by doing; I'm just an ordinary guy trying to assist others with their troubles on my day off from the regular job. We are all trying to help folks like you with your problems. I am not compensated in any way for this response to you - I am not an employee of You will have an opportunity to rate my response and of course you can rate this response high or low or in between. Frankly, I would like a good evaluation, but it doesn't affect my bottom line in any manner. I don't know what your problem is so I cannot make a comment to help you, except to say ...

I am sorry you are disappointed with the response you received. If you paid for your response, there are remedies for you through the site. When you opened your account, you were directed to the Terms of Use. You had to indicate you understood the terms and agreed before you could proceed. Several of the terms say basically "... be nice while you are here - no attacks please ..." I now kindly suggest to you that you return to the Terms of Use (link below) and review the method you should follow to get your money back, if you paid for anything, that is. BTW, your comment, this comment, that I am responding to, appears in the "free section" of Normally, paid questions do not appear in this section.

Thank you for your interest in and thanks for the feed back. Be assured that I will try harder when I make my comments to others in the hopes others will not return a comment like this to me.

Thank you and God Day.
