Question about Samsung PS42A410 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma TV

Our PS42A410 TV work for 5 minutes and the "Weak or No Signal" is displayed. It is not our ariel so it has to be the TV, can you assist at all?

    Thanks tunde007 but it's not the Hdmi cable, we took it out and it still doesn't work. The tv aerial cord is working too so not sure if it's a setting on the tv or if we need to replace the whole tv?

Hi, you have a faulty HDMI cable which is causing the "weak or No Signal" to display.. Replace the HDMI cable...

No or bad signal


Check in the Installation Menu that Antenna Power is set to OFF.

There is a chance that the water that came down the aerial lead has damaged the tuner module in the Humax.

Clearing the Self Check Diagnostic List
1. In Service Mode, press the Channel 8 Channel 0 .

RESETTING TO FACTORY DEFAULTSUse the following instructions to restore the User Controls and
Channel Memory settings to the preset factory conditions.1. While holding down the UP ARROW on the Remote Commander, press the POWER button on the right side of the set.The set restarts and displays the initial setup screen. This may take several minutes.
White Balance adjustment
1. Allow approximately 30 minutes for the set to warm up before proceeding with the white balance adjustment.
2. Connect the signal source to the 3 terminals of the Component In input (Y/Pb/Pr).
3. Set the Picture Mode to "VIVID" in the user menu.
4. Select the Component In input.
5. Open the Factory Service Menu (see section 3-1.) and select "Service Alignments Menu".
6. Set "White Point Red", "White Point Green", "White Point Blue" and "Black Level Offset Red", "Black Level Offset
Green", "Black Level Offset Blue" to average values .
"Cool " White Balance Adjustment
1. Select "COOL" from Color Tone in Service Alignments Menu.
2. Input 70IRE full white pattern signal into Component In.
3. Adjust "White Point Red", "White Point Green", "White Point Blue" in Service Alignments Menu if needed.
4. Input 25IRE full white pattern signal into Component In.
5. Adjust "Black Level Offset Red", "Black Level Offset Green", "Black Level Offset Blue" in Service Alignments Menu if needed.
6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 to achieve desired White Balance.

My mother in law has a 3 mth old panasonic tv with built in freeview that keeps going off saying no signal check ariel. ariel has been checked, any ideas anyone please


access the signal strength in the menus and see how it looks. Too strong a signal can also produce the same problems as a weak signal. If it shows full strength but poor quality then it may be too strong a signal.

I bought a new Samsung LED 40" Series 5 TV. However, after connecting to the tv cable line, i get message " weak or no signal" and not able to get any tv signals. What could be the problem?


You usually hear "weak or no signal" when the tv's input is set to air. Check to see if changing the input might help. Or if you are using an antenna to get your tv, then maybe your antenna is not powerful enough. The new digital signal is weaker than the analog, so antennas that once worked might not work as well now. Hope this helps!

my electric Ariel stopped working and I was quoted £87 to replace it I bought a replacement on ebay for £13 its a simple fix just undo the Ariel nut on top of the car rear wing get someone to sit in car and push radio button old ariel starts to come out simple assist it until it has completely come away from car put new lead into hole then get person in car to switch of radio and feel the ariel start to be pulled back into place be carful to keep it straight as it enters then replace locking nut total time less than 5 mins cost £13 plus one person to assist easy fix

Ps42a410 everything displays but with the picture no colour


Please try to reset it in service menu. If it doesn't help check scalar and components around it.

Tried to rescan after digital change over and it wont keep the signal, i have digital tv and digital ariel


Sounds like you have weak signal in your area, unlike analog TV , if the signal strength is below a certain level it will completely reject channals, try a standard antenna with two rabbit ears and a loop. If your TV has a signal strength meter you can watch that while adjusting the antenna.

Sony V lcd 32 inch losing digital channels and after doing a resetting scan it is ok for about 30 mins.... then screen image breaks up totally and message 'weak signal' shows on screen. Help,please.


You answered the question in your question.
''weak signal' means exactly that, however it can also mean the signal is too strong.

If you have a booster installed into the ariel remove it, if not, try one. Make sure the TV is directly connected to the ariel, not via a DVD recorder or any other devices which require an ariel input.

Sony tv's have very sensitive tuners installed so its just a case of making your aprticualr settings compatible.

Recieving no digital channels in my LCD TV


hi there alot of the updates for the system should automaticly download via ariel to the tv to keep you up to date some times if the strenght of the signal isnt srong enough then you might not get the update they send out , one thing i have found is that if you use an ariel booster then this makes the signal stronger this helps particularly if you have more than one tv set up with the same ariel, you could try unpluging all ariels to other tvs making sure the ariel lead you are using has no conections in it as this also gives you loss of signal if there are multiple conections in the lead runing from the ariel to your tv set hope this helps some
