Hi.
This sounds like a resistor problem.
Most likely, when it got shipped to you, it jarred the electronics inside.

Now, because there are several resistors inside of it, I don't recommend just trying to replace them yourself.
I would take it to Fry's, Best Buy, or Radio Shack.

They have electronics repair technicians, and they know how to find the bad resistors quite easily with their testing tools.

I say resistors, as opposed to capacitors.
If it was that, the unit would turn on, and then always shut off within a couple of seconds.

I hope this helps you know what is going on, and I hope it gives you some idea as to what to do next.

Good luck to you, and have a good day.

Blower motor resistor overheats and fried connector to blower motor on 2001 Grand Caravan. Replaced resistor once new one fried connection. Saw review online that the resistor diode may be the culprit....

You should be replacing the blower motor with the resistors. If your buying the parts from the dealer an experienced parts person will insist you replace both at the same time. The blower motor is usually what burns out the resistors.

CHI Flat Iron GF-1001

I have bought thermal fuses from DigiKey. They have various temperature ratings. If you have a multimeter or ohmmeter you can check to see if the fuse still has continuity. If the iron sometimes works, it's not the fuse. Cords are the most common problem, but if it was plugged into a 220V I'm not sure what might have gotten fried. There is a small IC in there too, for temp control or something: if it's fried you are SOL. Save it for parts though...

Philips convergence

The convergence ICs are what cause those resistors to fry, But its possible that others are also burned without any outward signs. They have to be checked by lifting one side of the resistors out of circuit.

Fried iRiver H10 MP3 Player 6gb due to overvoltage

Dear Buzdugan

I too once fried my Ipod mini, but got it replaced thru warranty. If u too have a warranty period then utilise it. Unless the player visually has any damage. u may even land up being lucky to get replaced with the resistor alone.

Diagnosed, fried resistor.

Where is the resistor located and whats it feeding? A resistor will not fry all by itself. Its like a fuse, its there to cook so nothing else does. Sorry to say your taking a big chance by installing a resistor without checking what circuit it is in and whats it feeding. It could possibly cause more damage to the power supply or the sweep supply. Good Luck
