Question about Sony XVM-H65 6.5 in. Car Monitor

Open Question

I installed sony xvm-h65 headrest monitors. The monitors powers up but does not show the DVD playing. The RCA connection from th DVD player is fine as it works with the previous monitors (one of them was still working). The SONY XA 113 connection box just does not want to convey the DVD info. I have connected the ACC wire to the 'ACC ON' power circuit. The black wires are connected to the ground and the red 'Always ON' wires are not connected as the monitor is receiving the power form the ACC 'ON circuit.

Those cables can go bad easily. If you have a meter and know how to use it, try to test continuity on each pin. If that isnt the answer, then either the input of second monitor is faulty, or output of main screen.

Plays video then goes to black screen.

If everything is installed correctly, front and rear viewing may be available only with your vehicle not in motion. Only rear viewing may be available in notion. It's a safety issue.

Monitor showing no signal and button not working

The monitor needs a signal ( source), i.e., DVD, TV, to show a picture. If your monitor shows no signal then either the source is not connected or not functioning. Check the connections from the monitor to the source. Also, check that the source is functioning properly and is receiving power.

Iv hade these forj dvd monitors installed but i can only get sound on the radio

The monitor only headrest does not have audio handling circuitry in it. the wire harness for that side is the one with the red and black wire, and the two video inputs, not the harness with the red and black wire and the three RCA jacks. It will function on the wrong harness, but it is not the correct one.

The DVD headrest has two harnesses. One of them is for power and output, the other is for input only from another source. The harness with the red and black wire has the three RCA outputs... the video lead goes to the other headrest, and the audio can be fed to an aux input on a stereo or amplifier. The input harness is designed to be Video 2 input from either a gaming system (a Game Cube is a nice option), or another DVD or video source (hand held video device such as iPod or Smart Phone like a HTC Touch Pro 2).

As for why you have NO sound, press the FMTX button repeatedly till the screen displays no FM transmitting frequency. Then you should be able to turn up the volume on the DVD player headrest only.

To get sound out of the stereo, either run the audio output from the headrest to the aux input on your stereo, or cycle the FM transmit options using the FMTX button on the DVD player unit to a station you can tune to on your car's FM radio.

Connecting headrest monitors to Kenwood DDX-6019

Youll have to run sets of cables from your head unit to the seats, youll prob only need video, power, and ground if the sound will come from your speakers. For the same display on either monitor run to first position then link the 2 monitors.

Video output not working

it sound to me like you have a broken connection on yourvideo out jack on the main unit becouse you say the lead is fine and the tv screens work with another unit.this can be caused by the plug being pulled out in a wrong angle. ask an audio dealer to chech the solder connections in the unit to see if they are making a connection with the pcb(printed circuit board. hope this helps
