Question about Siemens Washing Machines

1 Answer

The tray for conditioner blocked so always have residue conditioner left with water in it, leading to the right amount of conditioner unable to reach to it's optimum effect. I have tried to take out the tray to clean but not seems to improve much. Would there be anything that would dissolve the residual conditioner left in the compartment tray?

Hi,
Here are a few things to try in the order I would try them...

Very hot like boiling water....with white vinegar mix with it...

Hot water and CLR...

Goo Gone...

Alcohol...

Of course make sure to run a wash cycle after cleaning to make sure everything is cleaned out before doing a regular load of wash..

The F&P is easy to work on, the rubber tabs on the left and right front top. remove screws top will lift up. support it . Then reach into agitator and loosen spin nut . remove agitator. then remove inner drum. Outer drum will be exposed. Filter should be visible. Clean out and service any residue from water and soap. Check water inlet for proper inflow and leakage.

Conditioner staying in reservoir

Could be a black residue blocking the water from entering the conditioner tray. If this is the problem then you may need to partialy dismantle the machine to clean it. Worked for me.

WM58 hotpoint. I have cleaned the fabric conditioner drawer but the machine will still not take the fabric conditioner

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Sorry and please don't take this the wrong way but is it possible that there is still a blockage in the siphon tube of the conditioner tray part of the dispenser?

Please follow my (complete, pre-typed) guidance notes,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)

If it's not blocked it is possible that the water is not being fed into the conditioner tray. It is possible to check by opening the dispenser a little way when the machine is on (final?) rinse and you should be able to see the water entering the conditioner tray. If it isn't, it's a service call, sorry.
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
One of these should enable you remove it
(I am having to guess some of the following!)
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.
Good luck,
John C

Dishes on upper tray are left with soap residue

Soap residue would indicate drain not holding, allowing water to seep away prior to end of cycle Check the drain valve for obstruction. (2) check and clean the filter in the fill valve as it could be partially blocked not allowing enough water to enter the machine

My washer is leaking detergent from the tray on the front of the washer. I cannot find anything online to help.

YOU MEAN THE TRAY WHERE YOU PUT DETERGENT, BLEACH, AND FABRIC SOFTENER IN? IF SO, REMOVE THE TRAY OUT COMPLETELY. REACH INSIDE MAKE SURE THERE IS NOTHING IN THERE THAT COULD BLOCK THE WATER GOING INTO THE MACHINE VIA A HOSE. AND ALSO CHECK AND CLEAN YOUR TRAY. THE TRAY CAN BE DIS-ASSEMBLED TO CLEAN. RUN IN WARM WATER AND MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN THE WHOLE THING OF SOAP AND SOFTENER RESIDUE. DON'T FORGET THOSE TINY LITTLE HOLES ON THE TRAY AND THE REMOVABLE CAPS

Water staying in the conditioner tray. Machine works fine, washing powder goes into the machine, fabric conditioner not dispensing and water left in the tray at end of wash

You dont say which machine you have, but a lot of conditioner trays work by siphon action.

If at one end of the conditioner tray there is what looks like a closed off tube sticking up, this is the siphon. To remove it, it should just pull off. Check the tube is clean inside and out with no residues left from the conditioner. Also check the tube sticking up from the base of the conditioner tray - this should also be nice and clean, and should be clear of any obstructions. May be worth poking something like a cocktail stick down it just to make sure it's clear. Then push the closed off tube back on. The siphon action can be checked by pouring water into the conditroner tray - as the tray gets close to full the siphon action should kick in and then empy the tray.

Hope this is of some help.

Dispenser tray removal

hi, nikoltheis! i'm not sure if we have exactly the same model, but it should be pretty close. here's what my user's manual says:

Detergent and fabric softner may build up in the dispenser drawer. Residue should be removed once or twice a month

- Remove the drawer by first sliding the safety latch to the right, then pulling the drawer out until it stops.

- Reach back into the left rear corner or the drawer cavity and press down firmly on the lock tab (left rear portion of the drawer). Pull out the drawer.

- Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softner compartments.

- Rinse the drawer and inserts with hot tap water to remove traces of accumulated powders and liquids. Large amounts of fabric softner residue may indicate improper dilution or that more frequent cleaning is required.

- To clean the drawer opening (the empty area left behind when you remove the drawer) use a small brush to clean the recess. Remove all the residue from the upper and lower parts of the recess. (The picture shows this being done with a tooth brush.)

- Replace the insert pressing "X" to lock it in place. Return the dispenser drawer.

Good luck!

WD440 conditioner inlet /outlet appears blocked

the most common cause of this problem is a faulty design of the detergent tray, the conditioner works on a syphon system after you feel it up a little bit water is added to it to make the syphon action, either the little wholes above the soap tray are blocked or the soap tray may need cleaning
