Download the Touchpad/mouse driver from Acer's website - this should solve the issue.

That couldn't be much help...try ... tab and Shift tab...crude but might show the selected item so you can sort of scroll around using arrows keys. Windows has a virtual keyboard that might work for the interim solution

Fn F7 enables the touchpad to enable use without touchpad

do you have a full size usb keyboard? if so use the arrow keys to get to the device manager in control panel in start menu.

you might just need to do the Fn-F7 and unhide the mouse when typing radio button in the mouse settings in the control panel in the start menu

or open the start menu "window" key

That couldn't be much help...try ...

tab and Shift tab to move highlighted selection to as a psuedo mouse..crude but works until you go to device manager in the control panel. Delete the item in the mice option on the menu.

Under action in the control panel tab to "scan for hardware changes" which should get minimal touchpad or mouse driver loaded.

The below link will give you the latest touchpad driver and software.

Actually there is a physical button somewhere on that laptop that will shut off the track pad its really small it u might have to hit the fn key and another key with a mouse pic on it at the same time that should re-activate the mouse even usb

Toshiba aspire boots normally but moving the cursor or any key and the screen goes dark.

Try using a PS2 mouse and PS2 keyboard. It may be that your USB ports have lost their setup (assuming that you are using USB or wireless mouse and keyboard). If the PS2 hardware works fine, check that your USB ports are enabled in the BIOS, then check your device drivers in Windows to see that the USB hardware is recognized.

USB Mouse NOT Detected On Acer Aspire Laptop

lol no it has nothing to do with your bios. I'm surprised that if you know your way around a bios that you would head there. You need a driver for the mouse. In case you do know more than i am giving credit then here's what to do if you already have the driver. Go into device manager and delete anything under the mouse section that is not your touchpad. then plug the usb mouse back in.

OS loads but keyboard, mouse pad and usb ports

was there any liquid damage? just to check the intregrity of the hardware i would maybe boot off of a linux distro just to check and see if it works that way. ubuntu is free and if you can choose to "try linux without installing" option just to verify. this will let you know if it is a hardware or software problem.

Usb ports wont work

Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, and Device Manager. Look for serial ports/USB ports. Verify installed and active. If not, go to Bios 'setup' at start-up and activate from there. Be sure to save and exit even if you change nothing--otherwise everything returns to default.

Touchpad on acer aspire 5100 series is locked

plug in a usb mouse, go to control panel>system>harware>device manager and click on the + sign next to pointing devices. Right click the touchpad and click on uninstall. Reboot the laptop and unplug the usb mouse. This should pick up the touchpad as new hardware and reinstall it. Hopefully this will resolve the problem.

ACER 5100 KEYBOURD AND MOUSE AND USB NOT WORKING

hmmmm..now that's interesting...usually that's a symptom of the touchpad, not being connected to the motherboard. The way to get to that is to remove the keyboard, and then check the small connector from palmrest to the main board...
