There is no software to install because none is needed. you just plug it in & it is good to go on a mac. Depending on how much power, you might need to plug in the secondary usb jack on the cable that came with it to boost the power to your drive [explained in the 1-sheet 'guide' that came in the box].
BUT I have mine running fine with the one jack on my macbook pro laptop.
OH! Another thing, because it is seen as an optical drive, the drive will not show up unless there is a disc in it. You can check it via the Disk Utility on your mac.

While I don't have much experience with mac's, optical drives such as DVD-rom's and CD-rom's don't require drivers as they're already built in. Ensure that it's plugged in properly.
