If I shut off the blower on my gas furnace do I have to shut down the whole furnace

Turn of the system at the thermostat. If you turn off the blower, assuming you mean at the tstat, there's no need to turn off the pilot. If blower is running and won't stop, even if turned off at tstat, turn off power by any means necessary, and pilot does not need to be turned off. A "standing pilot" is made to stay lit at all times, running or not.

Furnace goes out when blower should start

There is a sensor called a pressure switch that is attached to the area of the blower motor for the exhaust fan. It is bad or plugged.

04 goodman furnace model GMS8 ciculator blower wont stay on gas fires and runs but high limit trip because of no air from blower any ideas bad motor or control module

You need to check the motor amp draw against the spec tag on the motor. If the motor has power to the motor wires it's either the motor or the run capacitor.

My furnace and blower wont work but my pilot light is lit

It could be a number of things. Relay, transformer, bad motor, you either need a multimeter with a tiny bit of knowledge in order to track the voltage and find where it is stopping or a professional. Good Luck!!

The burner does not stay lit\r\nthe motor runs like and sounds like an airplane then shuts off in a few seconds, with the smell of something burning the thermastat is not picking up the temperature so the...

Hello, looks like the burners are not staying lit Because the furnace is going off on its high limit switch. This could be due to the blower motor being loose on the motor shaft, the blower wheel being extremely dirty, the bearing on the motor can be worn etc. Turn off power to the furnace and see if you can spin the blower wheel by hand, if not the blower wheel will need to be replaced.

Furnace blower won't turn on... Forced air gas furnace was working fine for three weeks. Now: Turn themostat up Gas comes on, pilot light obviously working Box heats up for about 90 seconds Humidifier...

If it indeed started that one time for a short period then cut out, the first place that I would start would be the capacitor located in the blower compartment. The capacitor gives the motor the need kick to start, and often times stays in the circuit to help the motor run more effeciently. This could very well be the problem.

If you have the option to run the fan from the thermostat, turn the fan to the "on" position and see if it starts. If it does, then it is not the capacitor.

Hope this helps

PS Your are correct about the "sensor" turning the furnace off, it is called a high limit switch and is there for safety. It is an automatic reset device, and will reconnect power once it has cool suffeciently.

I have a coleman electric furnace for a mobile home. It is 8 years old and I have been having problems with the blower motor. IT was giving me problems and would only come on every once in a while. Now the...

Most likely your motor is bad from your discription sounds like bearings. try giving it a spin with power off. If it feels TIGHT and wont turn to easly Bearings are dry might be able to free up w lite oil NOT WD40 or other penatrant, this wont last but a day or 2. OIL is the real cure. If it turns try pulling themotor shaft out and pull up down on the shaft at same time. If your fan hits the motor front (shaft side) when pushed back or drags on the front whe pulled out too much THRUST. Need Motor. A little play is normal if its enough to make a noise CLICK CLACK when pulled OUT THEN UP & DOWN too much, and bearings are worn out need motor.
If it smells HOT... Proably need a motor. Although a mechanical problem bearings loose or tight can also cause a HOT SMELL it could be electical. Check and if you change motor change capicator too.
PLEASE return and grade me accordingly. If unclear or need more I need to Know more.  THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK.

Heater blower motor cycles on and off (frequently). I have a class 2 LR95329 Honeywell Thermostat

The clicking noise is a relay or switch of some sort. You are right about that. I have 2 questions. 1) does the thermostat have a mercury bulb in it? 2) when the fan shuts off and on, does the burner stay on?
