I have an LG flatron w2043t monitor. there is many small dark spot in the lcd display

if the screen is old or has been neglected before, maybe the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is starting to bug out. I had the same problem with a flatscreen LCD television some time back, and there was green parts all over the place. im afraid that if this is the case, the only solution i know of is to purchase a new screen. Good luck!

Power is running , but dont start only stand by light comes on, after green light goes off

Power is on, but nobody is home….

This is a common problem I see a lot and there can be multiple problems here. First off, if you have lost the backlight on the LCD, you might not be able to see what is on the screen….LCD makers are making the panels very dark and if the light has failed it is very difficult to see what may be on the screen. Try shining a flashlight on the screen near the bottom and see if you can make out anything on it.
If not, attach the laptop to another monitor using the video output, you may have to toggle through the video outputs on the laptop by using the Fn key + one of the “F” keys….sometimes it is F4. If you see your desktop on the external monitor than your screen may have died but your video card is still good. In this case, change out the screen and inverter.
If you still can’t manage to see a display, then the other issues are a virus or malware that has changed the resolution to one the video card cannot process, in which case, the hard drive would have to be removed, attached to another computer and scanned to remove the bugs.
The video processor or video card has failed on the motherboard. If the computer has not been cleaned and has run hot, the processor can suffer significant damage that can result in this condition.
Work on simple first, until you get to complicated. In the end, worst case scenario is the main board has to be replaced.

My laptap screen went dark/ off no light or pectuer on the screen but the coputer com on the on/off swech light com on

Thanks for choosing fixya.com

It could be a few things, most likely it may be the backlight. The backlight is a small long bulb that sits at the bottom or top of the lcd screen to light it up so you can see whats on the screen.

Sometimes tilting the screen back in the right light you can see a very faint image on the screen.
The other option would be the board that converts the signal has malfunctioned on the computer. Both will require someone to check the laptop and possibly take the screen apart. If the laptop is under warranty you might be able to send it in for free to be fixed.

Otherwise a local shop should be able to help you with the issue.
Replacement bulbs range in price depending on the laptop anywhere from $50 up to $200 depending on how much the shop is going to charge for installation.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask further if needed.

LCD monitor comes on for 1-2 seconds and then screen goes dark (power light stays on - green). Turn monitor off and back on and same result.

It sounds like you could have either a faulty VGA cable (slim chance) or a faulty graphics processor.

Try using a different cable from a friend.

Good luck!

Toshiba Satellite P25-S5092/ Computer will come on, but screen will not work. Wondering if it is most likely the LCD screen itself, the backlight or something else.

Hi,

If you have deduced that indeed the Toshiba Satellite P25-S5092 will boot and therefore operational except no display on the screen, you can always verify by connecting an external monitor. You of course would need to press Fn + F? (the F key with the small monitor icon).

As to the LCD screen having no display, often this could either be the CCF lamps (cold cathode florescent) and/or the inverter that powers it. One way to verify this is by shining a flashlight obliquely to the screen and a portion of your desktop would show albeit very very dark. Often, it is the inverter that fails. In some instances it could even just be a cold solder, loose connection or capacitors that have dried up, leaky or blistering.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a acer aspire 5100 and there is a crack on the screen, a friend of mine gave me a 15.4" screen from another acer (can't remember which model?) but the plugs you connect them up with wont fit my...

This is what one calls a potential 'can of worms.'
It could require a great deal of connector swapping and it isn't likely that Acer will allow you to access the necessary circuit diagrams to even make this possible.
It is highly unlikely that you can simply procure and install any kind of 'adaptor' and without knowing having the circuit diagrams, you are facing a near impossible task.
The backlight of an LCD screen uses high frequency, high voltage to supply the fluorescent tube(s) that provide light.
Incorrectly connecting lines could result in damage to both you laptop and/or the circuits contained in the LCD body.

My screen is to dark

I am assuming this is an lcd. Usally when a screen goes dark the back lights are not lighting. This can be caused by
  1. Back light failure (not Likely)
  2. Inverter failing. (most common reason)
The inverter board supplies the voltage to the back lights, it also supplies the video signal to the LCD tab welds.

If the monitor is a CRT, first, attempt to degauss it. if that fails then the cost of repair would exceed the replacement cost.
