Question about Toshiba NB205-N311/W Netbook

1 Answer

My Toshiba NB205-N311/w will no longer connect to the internet. I have tried the Function F8F8 to ensure the wireless is on but nothing happens. The green bars all say I'm connected to my wireless network, my other laptops are connected with no problem but the Toshiba gives the internet explorer error of 'internet explorer cannot display the webpage" I've gone through all the troubleshooting tips and downloaded all updated drivers from the other laptop via usb and installed on the toshiba, nothing. even went through boot and reset all settings. how can I totally erase and start from the original configuration without a CD. I've tried going back to previous restore points with no luck either. Thanks.

Go to TOOLS-INTERNET OPTIONS. Go to the CONNECTIONS tab at the top. Go to the bottom where it says LAN SETTINGS. Make sure only AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS IS checked and nothing else.

try uninstalling explorer and reinstalling it. you might try opening command prompt and typing CHKDSK /R. this will attempt to repair any errors there are.

Nb 205 blank screen

Is your screen blank when you are trying to turn it on? Do the fans run and such but nothing shows up? If not then I don't know.. but if it is put you laptop in the freezer for an hour. Mine had that problem, but you won't be able to turn it off... ever again... because then it won't start up again. I would suggest to check this out as well if it is that problem. http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f108/toshiba-nb200-wont-boot-492391.html

My NB305 starts up a black screen then open my documents. applications still works when i use task manager to open them like IE to access internet. but i dont know how to configure this to go back to its...

Hello,

The simplest way to solve the problem is to do the system restore. Select the date where in your laptop settings was still OK. Go to this site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 to check how to do system restore. Open How to use System Restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state to see how.

My cursor won't stay in a box or on a line

i assume you do not have an external mouse connected to it, the problem that I have seen most often, is that people tend to put their palm or wrist on the touchpad and it causes the mouse to move. i would go into the control panel and make the pad less sensitive.
if its another issue, please let me know

thanks

USB ports stop working

All of them? That is weird. You can try uninstalling the USB Root Hub devices in the device manager and see if they work when they get reinstalled (happens automatically).

I've installed a couple of programs and get a "regedit" error to "update". How do I update the regedit?

Hello,my friend regedit is system registry editor. The message you received says that your program was unable to be installed because regedit failed to update (manipulate/edit) the system registry. So find out which program u have installed is not working properly, uninstalled it and the next time you want to install it try right click and run as administrator.

Toshiba NB 205 connects to router but not internet

The wireless configuration is set differently on routers, eg the SSID, and encryption. You need to configure the wireless LAN card in the laptop to connect/communicate with the different routers.
Some wireless LAN card allow you to setup different profiles/settings for different wireless routers. Eg one setting for the office and one for home, which allows easy connection to the Internet by selecting the appropriate profile/setting.
