You should be able to enter the menu and set the tv to catv providing you have cable and then there should be a selection to autoscan for available channels. good luck it should not be too difficult.

My Emerson TV is stuck on number 1 channel how do I get it to go to other channels?

Need to go into the menu look for the channel setup then check the skipped channels make sure channel 1 isn't the only Channel not checked also Look at Your scanned channels in the channel list how many do you have is channel 1 it ? you may need to rescan your channels . If the TV worked OK before but Not now try resetting Your TV , BUT do this last as You will need to reset all the parameters in Your initial setup as well as rescanning channels also the Volume may blast you after reset I always install a set of earphones in the Audio phone jack first . To reset the TV Unplug it from the back of the set wait 30-40 seconds reconnect the plug while holding the Power Button Reset Your Options and Settings then Rescan your channels Don't forget the volume and to unplug earphones Good Luck

How do i set up my tv with my sony vcr

Hi Katie.. If you are using a coaxial cable to connect your TV and VCR, the TV needs to be tuned to channel 3 or 4. If you are using the Yellow, red and white cables, your TV should be on video mode to work.

CANNOT GET PHILIPS DVDR3305 TO RECORD ON PANASONIC TV.TX-L37D25B WHILE WATCHING ANOTHER CHANNEL?.

What is your source? Since the DVDR3305 has an analog PAL tuner and most TV stations are broadcasting in digital, you probably have some sort of set top box connected to the recorder. If you change the channel on the set top box, you will record the program on the new channel. If you are recording PAL and your TV has a PAL tuner, you should be able to just record one show while watching another with the DVDR3305 daisy-chained to the TV. Just make sure to change the TV channel not the channel on the DVDR3305.

If your TV has a digital tuner, you can split the signal before the set-top box to record one channel and watch another. (Note: basic splitters will cause some extra loss of signal and may reduce a digital signal below the threshold needed to tune in the signal. An amplified splitter can avoid this - when the amplifier is working properly.) Otherwise, you need a second set-top box (or a dual tuner set-top box).

On my set-up with an aerial antenna, I would put the splitter between the wall jack and the electronics. The incoming cable goes to the splitter, then cable 1 goes to the TV. Cable 2 goes to the set-top box. Tune the set-top box to the channel to record and check the settings with the TV set to the DVD source. (DVD set to record on Tuner (and the specific channel of the set-top box output) or front s-video or EXT1 or EXT2.) Then change the TV back to the TV source and change to the channel for the second program.

The manual for the DVDR3305 is available from Philips. The link to the manual is http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dvdr3305_05/dvdr3305_05_dfu_eng.pdf .
I hope this helps.

(I actually use an A/B switch and do not try to watch a second program on the TV connected to the DVD recorder. However, most of my recordings are for time-shifting of programs that air when I can't watch any TV program.)

Just bought an RCL3210 TV. The odd thing is that the Channel up/down key on the remote control does not change the channel. Also, the up/down channel key on the TV itself also does not respond. When you...

You need to find how to CLEAR the auto channel settings. Sounds like the TV is set to SKIP all channels. Look for a MENU and then look for an AUTO setting that will walk through all channels and set those where you have reception as the "list" that the remote and the Up/Down buttons on the tv will choose.
PS: GREAT writeup on your problem and the things you have tried.

What channel should the tv be set to?

Tv needs to be set to channel 3 or you need to change the input on the tv if you are using the rca jacks on the tv. The other way to hook it up is if you have an rf modulator. You can get the at walmart or radio shack for 20.00 dollars.

My toshiba tv only goes up to channel 12, when it reaches channel 12 it starts back at channel 1.

You will need to re-scan the channels, i don 't know where it is on the menu of this set. If you are on cable, you need to make sure your tv is set to cable tuning, or you cannot get channels past channel 13. Same is true for antenna if you are on antenna make sure you are set for this.

I have a Samsung 27" TV and need to set it on channel 73 to get a picture from my Satelite Dish. The highest channel the tv goes to is 69.

Set the TV to cable tuning mode and use that channel 73. You have it set for air now so it can only tune to channel 69.

DTV converter box INSIGNIA

Well, try it two different ways, as follows: But be sure that the tv-channel that's selected for tuning will be identical to the "output-channel" which you'll then select for the Insignia converter-box. So, if you first select Channel 3 for tuning the tv set, then you must later select Channel 3 on the "Output Channel" choice for the Insignia "set-up" menu. Similarly, if you first select Channel 4 for tuning the tv set, then you must later select Channel 4 on the "Output Channel" choice for the Insignia "set-up" menu. Be consistent! If you find that the Insignia menu-screen does not subsequently appear after tuning the tv to Channel 3, then start-over with Channel 4 as your proper tv-tuned station to initiate the pop-up screen for the Insignia menu.

Now, here's an example that assumes Channel 3 is the proper tuning-station for your tv-set within your particular region: You will first tune your tv-set itself (by means of its handheld tv-remote) to Channel 3. Be sure, however that your Insignia converter-box is turned-on and properly connected to your tv-set and antenna.

On your tv's hand-held remote-controller, you should find a button that serves as its "input selector" -- with a typical descriptor such as "Input" or "Line" or "Video/Antenna." Press that button, and enter successive channel numbers until you get to Channel 3. You may need to press the digits 03 to signify Channel 3. The tv-screen may be colored bright blue at that point.

Then, as you switch to holding your Insignia remote-controller, press the "Menu" button. (Please note that you will need to press hard and firm upon the buttons of the Insignia hand-held in order to get proper responsiveness; a quick touch of the button will not be effective.) After pressing the "Menu" button, the Insignia menu should now appear on the tv-screen. Now, you need to use your Insignia hand-held remote-controller (not the tv hand-held remote-controller again) to travel through the menu-screen to the "Setup" feature. Then, select "Output Channel."

Proceed to select Channel 3 -- which will then be printed for you next to the Output Channel feature. Finally, under the same Setup menu, go to "Auto Tuning" -- which will commence a complete scan of all available channels.

Remember, if tuning by Channel 3 is inappropriate for tv-tuning within your particular geographic region, then repeat the above process by substituting Channel 4.

When you are done, you will rely almost exclusively upon the Insignia hand-held remote controller. You do not especially need to use your tv hand-held remote-controller again.
However, be sure to avoid standing in-front of your tv-set to change channels by buttons or knobs upon the tv-set itself. Tuning again upon the tv-set itself will negate your prior tv-setting for either Channel 3 or Channel 4 -- and thereby sabotage your working set-up!

I myself incurred chronic anxiety yesterday (June 13), as I was stunned that the Insignia menu-screen did not appear immediately when I pushed "menu" on the Insignia hand-held.
The only buttons that worked on the Insignia handheld remote-controller were the Power-on for the converter-box and the Power-on for the tv-set.

Because my expectation had been this process would take just a few minutes, I was deeply frustrated and impatient. However, I recognized that my apprehension of impending loss was absolutely appropriate as emotional "signal-processing" for me personally -- in contrast to my formerly high expectation of immediate fulfillment, completion, and gratification. Instead of my intention for quick success, I faced the stunning dread that the Insignia box had become defective or that I'd fail to ever figure-out the problem. I would not have been so impatient if I hadn't expected immediate success for the set-up.

I rejected the slogan that "I just want to get this over with!" I rejected the option of stomping upon the Insignia box! Amidst my hour-long anxiety, I summoned "Courage" -- a mode of patience to accompany my internal "quivering." I did a Google search.

From this FixYa web-site and other troubleshooting sites, I had strong clues that improperly setting Channel 3 or Channel 4 was a primary culprit for the failure of the Insignia's menu-screen to apprear. When I finally succeeded, my anxiety dissipated quickly with a temporary relief. But then came the anger that the Insignia "User Guide" had not been clear to explain the process. From that aftermath of outrage, I decided to promptly compose this protocol to assist others who have been similarly tormented -- perhaps to the extent of incorrectly believing that the Insignia converter-box was a defective product requiring prompt replacement.
