This appears not to be an OEM (HP/Compaq) battery. These are not reliable in my experience ESPECIALLY if they are originally manufactured in China from old recycled batteries with a NEW case.
Such unlabelled batteries rarely last more than a few months. It would be better buying a guaranteed compaq battery from an eBay which is second hand but holds say 1.5 hours of charge. It will cost much less than a new OEM battery if you hunt around and you have the protection from paypal/ebay of reimbursement if anything goes wrong.
10.8 volts is correct for a cq71 and the shape is correct. When you charge it up, run the laptop on battery only and complain if it lasts less than 2 hours. Good Luck
hi calvinis, you can go to Ebay.com or amazon.com to buy your compaq persario charger, in ebay you have more security in purchasing any product , and you have shipping to any part of world , before searching in ebay , check whether ebay have seperate domain for your country , so that shiping will not take more thn one week to reach you. i have already search one product for you
2 beeps usually means a memory error, however, you should get an error message. Try removing and re-inserting the ram modules one at a time I assume you have tried to see if the ac adaptor is putting out the correct voltage?
This is exactly the same problem as I have. I have changed the power brick and the battery but the problem still exists. PC World were useless and said it "probably needed a new motherboard" although I doubt this is the issue. It worked when I first put the new battery in, until the initial charge ran out. Did you find a solution?
Sometimes when a PC gets stuck in hibernation mode, the only way to reset it is to remove the CMOS battery for 10 minutes and replacing it. It resembles a large watch battery and is usually located near the center of the motherboard.
