Question about Refrigerators
Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Here is what you can do in an attempt to get rid of the odor. I realize you have washed the interior but.... remove all of the shelving and use a mold and mildew remover such as Mr. Muscle on the interior surfaces. (Use rubber gloves) Also wash off the door gaskets. After washing with a mold and mildew remover wash with a 50 - 50 vinegar and water mix and 100% water rinse followed by a 25 % bleach 75% water mix and finally soap and water wash-down and water rinse. After all of that... you will need to purchase some Arm & Hammer baking soda. Use 4 boxes cut the tops off and just leave 2 of them in the freezer compartment and 2 in the fresh food compartment for 6 weeks. After that you can throw them away or replace them with 1 in. each compartment depending on the odor you still notice. You can spray it with a neutral areosol deodorizer also but don't put it on heavy and use the deodorizer with the shelves removed. This is from 40 years of experience and if the odor has permeated the fiberglass insulation in the door and resulted in mold on the insulation you will have to chage out the insulation but removing the door gasket and removing the door gasket then lifting the liner out of the door and exchjanging the fiberglass. It is a lot of work if it got that bad.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,

There is no filter that can be changed to remove this problem. You can however purchase products that can deodorize a fridge. The linked article explains how to make your own or use a store bought one.
