Why does milk. Milk expire?

Milk expires because it is what is considered to be a perishable product, much like fruits and vegetables. It doesn't have the preservatives you find in chips or "bacon bits".

The milk begins to break down due to the proteins within itself, and without preservatives there's no way for it to "stay alive".

Opening your milk also introduces microscopic bacteria which contributes to the process of break down.

You can freeze and store milk for up to 12 months, however. If you have a deep freezer and somehow came into 10+ gallons of milk (like I did last year) and you know you won't be using it all - throw it in the deep freezer within a few days of acquiring it. You want to put it in there as soon as possible to prevent the enzymes from beginning to form and spread.

I am trying to install a new heat motor on a frigidaire refrigerator model frs26zrg. I am having frost build up on front side of ice maker, assuming its from flapper not closing all the way.

I assume your frost is at the front of the ice bin? If so, your correct. Room temperature air is leaking in to a 0 degree environment and causing frost build up. First, I would see if the ice door closes 100% without spring by pressing your finger on the door. I've had bad ice doors that were warped. Next, inspect supporting rod and spring and make sure they look ok. An eye test should suffice. Next, without heat motor, the spring should keep door shut 100%. See if that helps, good luck!

Door latch

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Open Lever If the microwave door won't open the open lever might be broken. This part can be replaced separately.

Door Spring If the microwave door won't open the door spring may have broken. The door spring is located inside the door and keeps downward pressure on the door hook.

Door Latch If the microwave door won't open the door latch might be broken. The door latch is inside the microwave. The door hook, which is part of the door, engages with the latch to keep the door closed during operation. If the door latch or actuator breaks the door may not open.

Door Hook If the microwave door won't open the door hook might not be releasing properly. The door hook is installed inside the door and normally releases when the door is opened. The hook is made of plastic and will break over time. When this happens it will need to be replaced, it can't be repaired.

Button Spring If the microwave door won't open the button spring might be broken internally. The button spring can be replaced.
Button If the microwave door won't open the button might be broken internally. The button can be replaced.

Handle Actuator If the microwave door won't open the handle actuator might be broken. This is a plastic part which can become brittle over time. This part is connected between the door button and the door latch assembly.

How do you replace the door hinge pins?

get a floor jack and a pieces of wood lay the wood on the jack and jack up till it meets the bottom of the door. this will support the door when you pull the pins. using a pry bar pop the little spring inside the door out. its on the top hinge.if the pins have a retainer on the end of them remove this clip the new ones came with this. using a hammer and long punch drive out the pins and pull the door. if it has electric windows just pull it away enough to access the holes for the pins. using the hammer and punch drive out the bushings and install the new bushings.slide the door to the holes and install the new pins make note of the direction of the old pins and install the same way. install the clips on the ends of the pins and reinstall the spring. i do so many i made a tool for reinstalling the spring its a little tricky to get in with your pry bar but not installing the pin will cause the door to swing without restraint. heres a break down picture to help guide you. hope this helpsonetufshoppe_67.gif

The spring on the fuel door (2008 Pathfinder) has popped off and I cannot figure out how to put it back on correctly-even bought a replacement from the Nissan dealer and it doesnt work either-the amazing...

these springs are a bare to install. i take the door off the truck to replace the spring aka install it back. its a pain in the a** to install those. take the door off the vehicle which is attached with 2 bolts (8mm socket or phillips head screwdiver) and re-install spring on the bench. remember bare to install.good luck.

How to install latch and spring in microwave door

You need to know where the 'catches' are inside the choke cover on the door to remove it carefully without breaking anything or marring the cover. You might get inside and find that the post for mounting the return spring has broken and that is part of the outer door panel.

The door spring on my Kenmore Limited edition 8542516 broke what part do I need and how do I fix it

door springs usually don't "break" they iether get stretched over time or come off their mount...

springs are adjustable and can sometimes be set to a tighter tension without pulling the unit out but that may be necessary... they are generally located on both sides of the unit near the floor and can be accessed by removing the kick plate.

If the spring came off it's mount then you'll need to pull the unit out and put it back in place... there will be a bracket on the door itself with a hole to put one end of the spring and a jagged notch on the chasey to hook the other end and adjust tension...

If it's actually broken then you'll have to get a replacement spring and install as above.

The door won't close.

replace the door lock assy, you can't fix this without almost certainly breaking it by prying with a flat screwdriver. Remove door boot spring, fold door boot back over door lock area, unscrew door lock screws (3), then remove from harnesses and replace. Reverse door boot and spring removal, top of spring first, then work your way down ensuring a good snug fit with no water leaks, it may take you a couple of trys.

Panosonic NN-S525BF Latch Spring Broken

You have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

In most cases, the spring mount on the inner door panel breaks off, and while the ideal way to fix it is to replace that whole panel, the time, cost and labor are considerable.

It's usually easier and cheaper and just as effective to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

Or if there is enough material to drill a hole for the spring, do that, install the spring, then add a dab of epoxy to cover the bottom loop of the spring where it goes through the hole you drilled.

Let the epoxy dry overnight before you close the door or use the oven.
