Why is my 1998 toyota corolla oil getting short

Is there any white smoke? Could be your valve stem seals. But the Toyota Corolla in this year's is known for burning oil. If you are having to add more than 1 quart per month. You may have a problem. Check for the obvious. Milky oil. Idle it to op temp and smell exhaust for burnt oil smell. Hit the gas...see any white smoke? Open your radiator cap after running and smell for exhaust... If all is well then you have a normal running toyota corolla. These cars are champs. They just tend to burn a Lil oil here and there.

Oil in spark plugs

If you saw fresh oil, you were looking at valve cover gasket-seals leaking into the spark plug tubes.

Toyota corolla 2002 CE , car milage 140,000 , Burning oil, every 1000 mile have to add a quart of oil. There are NO oil leaks. Could it be the valve seals need to be replaced? How much will it cost me to...

Well looking at the age of your car,it would need a valve seals replacement,in order to fix your problem. This would cost you around for about 1500-2000 $.

How to change a timing cover seal on a 1992 Geo Prizm? Car is leaking oil bad out front of engine, I assume it is the timing cover seals.

This is the same as a Toyota Corolla. Plan on replacing the timing belt and all associated parts. The problem is either the Camshaft or Crankshaft seals. Timing cover seal does NOT keep oil in the engine. The oil getting on the timing belt WILL cause premature failure.

Transmission slips

reading what your saying, the problem started when you topped up with fluid; from experience what you have done is over filled the system which can build up high pressure and burst the oil seals and contamanate the drive plate.if your happy with what youve removed it might come back ok.but i suspect burst oil seal failure causing contamanation. thanks adrian

Oil leak on main seal

Well those are hard to do it by yourself so I suggest you go to your auto repair shop and have them do it. Of course you can go to different shops so you can see the difference in pricing if any.

Car/1990 Toyota Corolla

If Biggy1 has described it right, I think when you remove the WIRE to the spark plug ( not the plug itself ) and oil jumps out, there is a cylindrical seal that needs replacing and one does not need to even remove the cylinder head.
I have the same problem with my corolla. On the other hand if Biggy meant when removing the SPARK PLUG oil was on the contacts....
