Press the steam trigger on the handle of the unit to vent any pressure inside the boiler.
Place the unit on a flat, stable surface.
Slowly press down and turn the filler cap counter clockwise until it is removed.
Since it has not been used for quite a while, you might need to add a little force while pressing down and turning the filler cap.
