Is this a laser type mouse or a touchscreen type in the laptop?

Your mouse pad is probably damaged.

Try to boot a different OS like Linux and see the behavior.

if the problem persist, you can disable the touchpad and use external mouse instead.

I lost file, edit, view ,history ,etc; and it doesn't show previous page or next page in upper left corner. What did I do to hide all of this?

I am assuming this is a problem with Internet Explorer. To fix this, move you mouse to an empty part of a toolbar near the top (But not right at the top) of the screen.

Right-click and you should see a drop-down menu, left click on "menu bar" and you should see you file, edit, view history buttons reappear.

Touchpad pointer moves by itself. Moves slowly to either the top right hand corner or the bottom left hand corner.

Sounds like their might be some dirt underneath the surface of the trackpad exerting pressure causing it to move. Try turning down the sensitivity, do this under mouse in Control Panel.

Dell d600 mouse pointer jumps into corners if working on documents etc.; maybe if the system stores data in the cache or ram, the cursor wether jumps into the left down corner or moves slowly in directon...

What the issue is, is the eraser head mouse in the enter of the keyboard. When you type, it's putting uneccessary pressure on it, and it makes the pointer move. The only solution I know for this is to get the updated ALPS driver for the mouse, and disable the eraserhead (The updated driver gives you an option to do this), thereby using only the touchpad mouse.

My screen on my ppo1l latitude is smaller then it should be.

start menu, right click my computer, manage, device manager, and there should be a yellow question mark next to all the missing drivers, download the correct video/display driver from dell.com's support / downloads section (you must select your model and operating system - sometimes if the right ones not available you can try installing the xp one / a similar model's one) and you can increase the resolution, same with all the other misssing drivers.

Mouse cursor moving by itself

i have latitude c610 and same problem happens with me too. i think that happens when i finish my brakfat and without cleaning my hands start using the touch pad. what happens according to me is that small particles of food(eg bread/dust particles) stuck in the corners or the body wall where the touch pad ends and keeps pressing the touchpad, thus causing the mouse to move to one direction. when i clean the corners and sides of the touchpad, it starts working ok !!

thanks
Johal

Dell laptop pointer problem

Hi,
This is a very common problem for most Dells this age.
You can try this repair if you feel comfortable.
Remove the keyboard by removing the power button bar (just gently pry up from the right side working left)
re-insert the mouse cable which is coming from the pad/palm rest. Re-assemble.
Check if all the screws on bottom of the unit are tight, especially around the palm rest area.
Good luck
