Perhaps the little hook has been damaged on the end?

I have seen this part
http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/needle-threader-elna-janome-new-home-755643002.aspx
listed for sale - it doesn't list your model but it looks very similar to the threader on my Janome MC6500.

The needle threader on my Janome 6260 quit working. The needle is inserted correctly.

Is the threader broken or just not meeting the needle eye? If broken, it can most likely be repaired.

If the threader is not meeting the needle eye, adjust the needle height so the threader meets the eye and intercept the thread. I have a 60's machine with a threader that needs the needle height manually adjusted because the needle does not stop in any particular place. Usually, if I raise the needle to its highest, the threader will work.

Needle threader on 830 operates but will not let go of thread

1. Try a high quality thread; usually embroidery. Your thread sounds like Walmart. Look at it at a light and see if there is fuzz. That's bad thread.
If this doesn't work you have a threader that is bent out of shape causing it to hang on. You can attempt to adjust the threader with small pair of needle nose pliers, maybe even tweezers. Careful, it is fragile. The cost of replacement and a repairman will be over $ 50 so it is worth the try at home.

Can the automatic threader be fixed can i do it myself?

Depends what is wrong with your needle threader. Needle threaders tend to be very fragile parts so it is not uncommon for them to stop working. You may be able to replace the part if it is broken but it may be a job trying to find the part. Search the internet for parts for the make & model of your machine. Once you get the part, search the internet (YouTube) for videos showing how to replace the part.

On the other hand, it is not a serious problem if the auto-needle threader does not work. These options were not available until the most recent sewing machines were manufactured and your machine will most likely operate for many years despite the broken needle threader. Manual threading was all that was available for over 100 years.

HINT: To help make needle threading easier, lick your forefinger then swipe the back of the needle's eye. The moisture in the eye will help pull the thread through.

I have a really hard time getting the needle to thread.l I cannot manually pass the thread through the needle eye: the eye is just too tiny; and I cannot even see the hook part of the automatic threader...

I have that machine, and am wondering if your needle has a burr on it, try a new needle, #11 or #80. You may also have no hook in your automatic threader to go throught needle eye. My first automatic threader was defective, no wire to go through the needle to catch the thread. Take a magnifying glass and look when you change your needle and watch when you pull your threader down, do you see a really fine wire come through the needle eye? If, not yours is defective because it has to pull the thread into a little loop for you to pull your thread through it after you release the lever quickly, Mine was a Singer and they sent me a new one right away, Brother will do the same for you, I am sure. Another thing you can do is go to your dealer and have them inspect it, I went to JoAnn fabrics and that is how I learned that I was not crazy, it was the machine,

All of a sudden, the needle threader won't work. First I noticed the upper thread broke, and then I tried over and over to re-thread the needle. After a while I gave up. I finally replaced the needle and...

I don't know much about Brothers but the first thing I do with any new machine I get it to get rid of the needle threader if it is in my way. They never work and with use they start to shread the tread.
I use a bright light and a strong pair of glasses to hand thread it. I use tweasers on my more difficult machines.
You may have a lemon of a needle threader too. It happens. There are sharp barbs that we can not see but the thread has a hard time catching on them and most of the problem seems to be in the threader letting loose of the thread as it is caught on these barbs.

Cant make the auto threader work on an elna 2007

Do you mean the auto needle threader?

Mine won't work on very small needle sizes so I resort to the old manual needle threader for these. Ditto for twin needles.

Otherwise its a case of pulling the auto threader down so the hook swings into the needle eye, then pulling the thread over the face of the needle and catching it into the hook, then release the threader so it pulls back through the needle eye, taking the thread with it.

The only other thing that springs to mind is "is the needle at the top position in its stich cycle so that the threader lines up with the needle eye?

hope these ideas help a little.

I changed my needle on my singer 3116 and the needle threader does not work anymore. Hope you have an answer! Thanks!

It is probably out of alignment, just turn your needle threader so that the little wire goes through the eye of the needle and will catch thread. Also, sometimes the needle you put in has too small of a hole to thread easily with the automatic needle threader.

Singer Inspiration 4228 Automatic Threading Problems

The small hook that passes through the eye of the needle is bent or broken. If it is only bent it can be straightened with a small screw driver. If it is broken it will need to be replaced. Most dealers can get this part for you for about $5.00
