Question about Maxent Televison & Video

We inherited a maxent plasma 52 inch tv. It was transported laying down. We were told that was bad for plasma tvs and we should stand it for a few days before we turn it on. Is this true?

Hello there,

This is totally untrue. There are lots of myths on this subject on the internet - some are more believable than others, but none are true. It is safer for the TV if you transport it upright as it is more rigid when standing up. It wont flex as much if it gets bumped around so the screen is less likely to get broken.

The important thing is to remove the TV from any packaging and allow the TV to reach room temperature for a couple of hours before you connect it to the power supply. If the TV is cold after being transported and you switch it on, the sudden dramatic increase in temperature can cause internal components to fail from thermal shock. This is the electronic equivalent of what can happen if you immerse hot glass or crockery in cold water!

If you'd feel safer leaving it upright for a couple of days before watching it, you are obviously welcome to do so, but it really isn't necessary,

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.

Happy viewing ;)

Regards,
BElectric.

How to transport a 56 inch general electric projector tv

I transport them all the time and the best way to do it is to put something down soft in the bed of a truck then lay it down screen first on its face. If you stand it up in the bed of a truck the wind usually destroys the screen. laying them down face first doesnt harm them as long as you have somehing soft to lay it on so the screen doesnt get scratched.

I just purchased a 52 inch phillips tv and the stand that the tv sits on adds 2 inches which doesn't allow the tv to fit in my entertainment center. What can I do?? I need a shorter stand...

Just take off the stand altogether if you can lay the TV close enough to a solid vertical support.

My 47'' Philips spent about a year without a stand sitting on a desk and leaning on a wall.

It's heavy enough and as you approach to completely vertical position its main force will be pointing down, not forward.

If you can't lean it on anything solid or if it doesn't sit well while in an entertainment center...not sure what I'd suggest....short of adjustable wall mount stands...

Vertical black lines appear intermitently

Does the line appear on just one input(cable,hdmi,video1,video2,ect) or on all of them? The reason why I ask is it may be just an issue with one input setting on the television and you may be able to use a different input for a temporary fix of the problem. Plasma telivisions run very hot and it may be overheating. Try using a small mountable fan above the TV pointed into the back heat vents and see if keeping it cooler keeps the issue from happening. These TVs are repairable but usually cost more to repair than what it is worth due to plasma TVs are very in-expensive now.

Maxent plasma tv is showing only vertical lines.

Common problem on these sets are many many bad caps on the digital board. Repair kits are available for these containing the necessary parts if you're savvy with a soldering iron. Otherwise, replacement of the digital board is necessary and you'll have to contact either Maxent or a local repair shop. Tracking down which caps are bad can be difficult even with the right equipment as some tend to check good while in circuit when they are actually bad.

If it flickers on start up it will only get worse. Mine got were it took over 3 hours to settle down, and never would stop flickering with DVD'S. Solution for mine: Replace bad capaciator on input circuit board, I found it by using a heat gun to speed up coming on process, Cost me 62 cents to replace the capaciator my self.

I have a 50 inch big screen hdtv and i am moving i want to know can i lay my tv down flat?

Yes you can lay it down flat on its screen just make sure it is padded so the screen doesnt get scratched. I transport projection units this way all the time even DLPs however do not transport LCD or plasma units in this manner as thats not recomended.
