I opened the TV, but no "switch" on the PCB to do a "reset to factory". ... You almost certainly need the remote, and also the service manual that .... and I was able to get into the menu by remote and to disable the Child lock.

Possibly, you will need an original remote to disable or turn off this feature. And some child lock can be accessible through neither MENU of your tv or remote. Check CHILD LOCK option to remove it. If it is a screen lock type of CHILD LOCK feature of tv (a Blue Background display a LOCK icon) and your original remote is lost, try a universal remote for you to possibly unlock it. THE SOLUTION FOR THIS FIX, AS IT WORKED FOR ME....I WAS LOCKED OUT BBY THE DUMB CHILD LOCK FOR TWO MONTHS, BOOUGHT A NEW REMOTE THAT DIDNT WORK....GET A 10$ REMOTE FROM THE STORE, AND ENTER CODE 0224 IT KILLS THE CHILD LOCK FEATURE..THEN YOU CAN POWER ON THE TV..GO TO MENU AND SELECT CHILD LOCK AND DEACTIVATE IT! The power button on the TV doesn't work because of the child lock?
I went over the copy of your manual for your TV. It must be the child lock timer problem.
I would try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 mins and see if that reset the TV and releases the lock.
If it doesn't work, the remote needs to be replaced. A universal remotes aren't really universal when you need to use special buttons. The remote made for the TV is the best.

i was programming my television by hand because i do not have a remote to my television and i accidentally set the child lock and now my tv will not turn on what can i do to fix my tvtv is on standby, standby light is on. can turn tv on with programable remote after pressing on button several times to set code on remote. press any function button and screen says child lock is on. can't get anywhere pressing any buttons, turn tv off with on/off button and tv goes back to stand by. don't have magnavox remote any ideas?

Unfortunately the Child Lock facility disables the buttons on the TV.

You should be able to get a replacement remote control from an authorised Philips dealer, or you could try a universal remote control form most electrical retailers. Philips make a range of universal remote controls.
