Question about Proform Exercise & Fitness

Open Question

I have a Proform 500 ZLT. recently I've experienced a clicking sound and vibration while walking/running. i don't believe it is coming from the motor, its seems to be coming from the walking belt itself. it is my first treadmill and i have it for around 2 months, so i have no idea what to do to tackle the problem. would this have something to do with the walking belt being too tight/loose? thank you, JP.

SOURCE: The walking belt on my

Hi there,

You can usually find the screws to tighten the belt at the back of the machine - but be careful not to tighten too much. A quarter turn may be all that is needed. A gentle tug will get the belt back into alignment if it is askew. Remember that if you have trouble tightening or realigning the belt, you should seek advice from the manufacturer or the fitness store where you bought your treadmill exercise equipment.

Most new treadmill machines do not require belt lubrication, and therefore you should only lubricate your belt if the manufacturer specifically recommends it. Most of the manufacturers who do recommend regular lubrication sell kits with instructions and all the equipment you need to make quick work of the task.

Post further comments for more help or information.....

Good Luck!!

Thanks

The drive belt was loose. I tightened up the motor just a smidge using a crow bar. That solved the problem.

SOURCE: Belt is slipping and catching

This is caused by one of three problems. First and most likely, the walking belt is loose. To tighten the belt, start by locating the two bolts that adjust the rear roller (one on each side of the unit in the back). Run the unit at about 3 mph. Tighten the bolts a 1/4 turn at a time. Make sure that what you do to one side, you MUST do to the other side or the belt will get off center. After you tighten it 1/4 turn, check the belt to see if it is still slipping. If it is then tighten the belt 1/4 turn again. Continue until the belt does not slip, but do not tighten the bolts more than 2 full turns. If it takes more than 2 turns then something else is the problem. The second problem that it could be is the drive belt might be loose. To tighten the drive belt, start by removing the front cover. loosen the bolts around the motor then tighten the drive belt by tightening the motor adjuster bolt. Once the drive belt is tight, tighten the motor back down. The third problem that it could be is the walking belt could be worn and need to be replaced. Let me know if you have any questions.

A rhythmic vibrating noise has recently started coming from the motor area. Any ideas?

Generally this means the belt that goes from the front roller to the motor (drive belt) is off center or is wearing out. If you will take off the motor hood cover and run the machine you will be able to see if that is the case. It will determine exactly where the sound is coming from.

While trying to run the mat/track stops or studders momentarily.

If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the allen wrench, turn both rear roller adjustment bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift the edges of the walking belt 3 to 4 inches off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Plug in the power cord, insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened.

Proform Crosswalk Dual Motion Cross Trainer Treadmill. motor works great. Rubber on right side under the moving belt has come off so belt slips when in use

I think you are talking about the front roller. It has a rubber sleeve that helps to grip the walking belt. Sometimes you can tighten this enough to keep it from slipping but you run the risk of overtightening and damaging both rollers. We recomend replacing that roller.
