Kindly be more specific, If its most possible, please answer the b/m questions:

Do you mean to connect a wireless AP to a Desktop?

If yes, do you have a Wireless card installed in a PC?

If no, then what exactly is the device. You can mention the model and make of the device as well.

How do i enable wireless internet on a 2 year old HP desktop

You have to have a wireless card installed on the desktop. Either a PCI wireless card that will be installed inside the computer on one of the pci slots or you can use a usb wireless card that plugs into the usb port.

Unlike laptops, there will be no switch to turn on or off. The wireless on desktops is controlled by the software program that comes with the wireless adapter.

Try Tiger Direct at:

When the site comes up just type: PCI Wireless Adapter or USB Wireless Adapter in the white search box at the top of the page and click GO.

Do you have a wireless router to connect to? You hp probably has the wireless adapter already installed. All you need to do is turn the wireless switch on (located on the side or in front of the laptop) then connect to the wireless router's SSID that is yours or the one you want to connect to. If it is password secured, then you will need to supply the password or network key.

I'm trying to connect to a home wireless network, but my HP m7480n simply won't connect. I'm supposed to have wireless capabilities, it says so on the front of the darn tower, and when I try...

The wireless switch can be in many different places depending on the computer you own. For the HP you own, specifically, I'm not sure, but it should either be somewhere in the front of the processor or it can even be on the keyboard. Look for a symbol that resembles a object with "wireless signal waves" coming out of one or two sides. Here is an example of a wireless symbol:

Once you locate this symbol, you should either be able to push the switch or button on which it's located to activate the wireless switch or you should be able to flip a switch next to the symbol to activate it. If you cannot locate this switch, check your user manual for instructions or contact HP directly to get step-by-step instructions. Let me know if you need anything else.

Can't find the wireless switch

Do you have wireless on your desktop? Also, it might be a PCI card (meaning no real switch) if you have wireless on your PC.

If this is not the solution you are looking, write back.
