My coffee pot has an error saying PRIME, and will not work. Could you tell me what the problem is?

I've been fustrated with this problem for a couple of months now. Tried all the solutions I found in the internet. Here is how I fixed it this last weekend. I cleaned the coffee pot with "CLR" Started out with it full strength and keep adding water to cool the cup down before pouring it back in to once again clean it. A miracle it now works like brand new. I tried other cleaners but they didn't work.

On the water reservoir there is a little black disk, a magnet, I think... If that is not against the machine it will display the prime error. Empty the water from the reservoir and tilt it so that the disk is against the machine. Place the reservoir empty back on the machine and fill it with water carefully as not to move the disk. When the water level gets to the correct position, the prime error will go away.

I received the same error and tried the above suggestion with resetting the water reservoir, but it did not seem to work. I unplugged the machine waited 20 seconds and plugged it back and it seemed to reset the error.

I have a small Gemco coffee pot with no directions. It says "do not use on stovetop",but does not say micro on it either. How do I use it? Pls. help.

I can't answer your question but clearly if there is any metal in the construction of the coffee pot it should not be heated in the microwave oven.

Ceramic coffee pots aren't intended to be heated in order to make the coffee. The coffee is either made in them by adding hot water or made in another utensil and poured into the coffee pot for serving and perhaps kept on a gentle hotplate in the meanwhile. Glass coffee pots are treated in a similar way.

Metal coffee pots and jugs can be used on the stovetop even though it isn't a good idea except for "cowboy coffee" when dry ground coffee is scorched in the jug before pouring on boiling water; steel is best for this.

I have used all manner of glass, ceramic and metal coffee pots and jugs on the stovetop but always using a heat diffuser - two layers of perforated steel with an airspace in between.

A coffee maker is a different thing and must be heated fairly vigorously. I find an old electric percolator is still the superior method of making coffee.

Blue light is flashing where the water goes and it says prime. it won't brew. what do i do?

Remove the water reservoir, then reinstall it to it's normal position. Refill or top off with the recommended bottled or filtered water to the max fill line. This will clear the prime message. If after you do the the above procedure at least two times, the prime message keeps coming back your machine has brewed its last coffee. If you bought it from Costco, I would recommend returning it there. Or If still within the 12 month warranty period, call Keurig.1-866-901-2739. Tell them and they will ship you a replacement.

Display says prime. What do I do

I removed the resevoir and pressed the hole where the water enters the machine. There will be a bit of water that should come out and then put the water reservoir back in.

We bought a black&decker Spacemaker coffee maker last month and it has not worked properly but maybe a week. It seems to not want to flow correctly into the pot. We set it to come on and wake up to...

If the hole in the bottom of the basket isn't plugged, it sounds like the anti-drip feature isn't functioning properly. This is the series of levers that allow you to remove the pot while the coffee is perking without spraying liquid everywhere.

There is a vertical lever mounted at the back of the hollow where the pot goes, and the top end of that lever lines up with the spring-loaded lever that closes the bottom of the coffee basket. When the basket is in place without the pot, the bottom of the basket remains closed. When the pot is inserted it presses against the back lever and the series of contacts opens the valve covering the hole in the bottom of the basket, allowing the coffee to flow into the pot. If the sequence of contacts doesn't work the basket will overflow, and you get coffee and grounds everywhere.

Ensure all these parts align and are working properly. If there's a problem that can't be resolved, or parts are broken or missing, removing the spring-loaded lever from the basket will allow the coffee to flow into the pot. You will no longer be able to remove the pot while it is perking, but you'll have your morning coffee.
