Write Protected USBs are protected by some software that provide passwords to get access to it. So that you wont be able to write anything on that drive.

or sometimes it is protected by the operating system itself that provides the USB Drive to writeprotect. that have some executable files in the pen drive.

My problem is my usb kinston 8 gig was overwrite protected how to format this usb

There are two ways to make a drive write-protected.

1. Physical switch on the USB Drive.
2. Using the firmware of the USB Drive.

If your USB Drive does have a small switch on the outside then you can try to move it to the other position and see if that helps.

If your USB Drive does not have a physical switch that means that a firmware based write-protect has been enabled.

The only way to fix this problem is to contact the person you received the USB Drive from and have them reformat the USB Drive.

How can i removed usb protection???

First of all try to locate a small switch (if any, that you may have not noticed) at some place on the drive or memory card reader. This is the prime reason for this error. If there is one, switch it to the other side to turn the protection off.

I got error on printer LBP2900 when connect to my laptop (windows 7) It show communication error but usb connection and software installation no problem. Any idea about it?

Most likely it is a corrupt software installation.
You can try the easy things first: 1) Unplug the USB cable from the computer 2) Reboot 3) Plug the USB cable back into the computer, see if the communication error happens again
If that doesn't work, time to reinstall the software: 1) Go to Control Panel > Add Remove Programs OR Programs (depending on which version of Windows you have) 2) Remove every piece of software related to your printer 3) Unplug the USB cable from your computer 4) Reboot 5) Disable any Anti-Virus or Firewall software that you have running 6) Re-run the printer installation software

I can not format kingston usb DT101 G2. I click on the format choice and it says that I am using another programm, but I am very sure that I don't use anything.

goto my computer> tools >folder options > view >

tick the "show hidden files" option and also untick the "hide protected operating system files" option

now browse your usb and search for exe files and delete them all.
delete everything in the usb as you you are already trying to format it.

if it gives the same error that the file is being used then open task manager by pressing alt+ctrl+del.
goto processes tab and search for the same file name which generated the error on deleting.

end the process by right clicking it.

now format your usb.

If it still gives the same error then use the HP USB utility (link below):

AND remember your problem is not of hardware category.... it's a virus that is causing such errors.

Perhaps a good antivirus can clean your USB and make it perfect again.

thanks in advance and do vote my answer

My usb is not formatting . the write protected error is occuring

Some USB drives have a tiny switch on them to "protect" from accidental erasure.
Examine your usb device for a small switch. Slide switch to other side.

ReadyBoost Error

In the future, always use the Safe Removal method before removing a USB drive. This prevents this kind of error in the first place.

If you haven't done so already, reboot, then insert the USB. Make sure there are no windows open which reference the USB device. Then use Safe Removal (right click in the lower right hand corner of the task bar. That should clear it.

If that doesn't work, right click the USB drive in My Computer, choose Properties. See if you can clear the Read Only setting.

Last resort - copy off the files you need from the USB, and format it.
