Question about Garden

Open Question

Hi, I believe I have a fuel problem with my Landa pressure washer - model ZG2-15421 - with a Briggs & Stratton 3.5 HP model 91212, type 1022 E1, code 971205FA. It is for home use like washing the vinyl siding and the deck and similar stuff - about 20 hours of operation a year. I use fuel stabilizers because of the infrequent use. Late last Fall, the engine would only stay running if the choke was applied half way. If there was less than half a tank of gas, the engine would not start or stay running. Over the winter, I took things apart to clean and check. I found a little bit of grit in the tank; cleaned that no problem. I removed the small cover (4 torx screws) on the side of the carb facing the muffler and its gasket and then tried to clean out the fuel pickup tubes that extend down into the tank with compressed air and carb cleaner. I thought that would do it. Now, the engine only runs for about a minute before stalling. If I rock the unit back and forth to swash the fuel around in the tank, it will start right back up but again only run for about a minute. To start the engine, throttle is at full and choke is applied 100%. Once it starts, choke has to remain at 50 - 75% to keep it running. When it stalls, if I again rock the unit back and forth to splash some gas around, it will start right back up but again only run for about a minute. So, obviously I missed something. I wanted to remove the 2 plastic pick up tubes and reverse flush them (thinking the screen were clogged) but I did not want to break them. Fluid and air moved through the tubes when I had things apart to clean before. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank-you.

SOURCE: Engine wont stay running

It is a diaphram carb. Doe's the primer **** straight gas or does it have air bubbles in it? If it has bubbles in it then it is a leak in the fuel line.
If not then Unhook the intake fuel line and pump the bulb until all of the gas is out of it. Then pour the gas out of the tank and rinse it out with new gas. Pour in new gas and it should be ok.

Small engine problem. I have a 3.5 hp Briggs and Stratton engine that runs very roughly. The fuel mixture screw makes no difference, all the way open or all the way off. The model is 91212 0196 01.

Are you running the correct fuel and when was the last time the spark plug was replaced? I think that engine could be a Two Stroke so it's a fuel AND oil mixture. A local lawnmower repair man would be a good person to ask about that. Get the mixture screws back to where they should be and refill it with the correct fuel. Running the wrong fuel will kill the engine.

Excell pressure washers used a series of numbers such as yours. I believe that that number will be for pump or pressure washer as a whole unit. Check Excell web site for a match. If you are looking for the engine model number check the fan shroud or valve cover or tag on engine itself. Good luck
