You PUSH the POWER button to turn it OFF. It's sick.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

i just fixed one of these systems that had the same problem and it turned out it was the STK442-130 (ABOUT 15 BUCKS A POP) . so i ended up changing all the resiters around the STK ,but you really only need to change the three fusible resiters which two of them are 100OHM and one 1 OHM. FOR MARE INFORMATION CHECK THIS THREAD.

Hey i have a sony lbt-xgr90av and when i turn it on it comes up with push power protect i just want to no if there is a reset code???

NO, the condition causing it must be resolved as it is a designed-in safety feature.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

While playing my unit we had a brief power outage. When the power supply returned the " PROTECT PUSH POWER " message comes on. Is there a button that I can push to reset my unit-LBT-X50 .

Hi,
Your sound system may have a circuit breaker.
Check the rear of the sound system for a circuit breaker that has popped out, Then push it back in.
It may be labelled.
  • circuit breaker
  • protect push power
Otherwise unplug your unit from the wall and wait 5min before you plug it back in, then press the power button on the front of your system and your remote control.

I hope this helps

When i turn on my sony LBT-LX50 all it says is PROTECT PUSH POWER,and i dont know what that means so what do i got to do to fix that problem?

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

How do I go from "Protect: mode back to FM play on

The word protect will engage when you have output problem and will shut the audio off so no sound is available, however if the sound is working normally with protect visible then there is clearly processor issue, something I have never seen before. But it should be checked by a qualified tech.

Sony LBT W5000

According to Page 46 of the LBT-W5000 Operating Instructions:
"The display stars flashing as soon as you plug in the power cord even though you haven't turned on the system (demonstration mode).
Press DISPLAY (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500) or DEMO (STANDBY) (for other models) while the system is off. If the system is in the Power Saving mode, press POWER SAVE / DEMO (STANDBY) (for LBT-W5000 / W300 / XB700 / XB500). The demonstration appears automatically the first time you plug in the power cord, or if there is a power outage lasting longer than half a day."
I tested this today, as my LBT-W5000 was in Demonstration Mode. It definitely works. The only catch is (at least on the W5000), and it's a minor one, you have to reset your clock afterwards.
