  2. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.

  3. Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.

  4. Click one of the following:

    • Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9, and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).

    • Restart later (to wait until you shut down or restart your computer).

Note

This may not help because IE9 has been out for such a short time, but try this. Go to your Control Panel, then go to Programs and Features. On the left side of the window click View Installed Updates. It's very likely one of the updates on there is responsible for the installation of IE9. Theoretically, if you remove it your computer should revert back to IE8.
I'm sure you have your reasons for wanting to revert back to IE8, but as a tech guy I should tell you that IE9 is far more secure, way faster, and more prepared for the future web of tomorrow. You might want to give a serious consideration to if you really want to downgrade back at all.

Win 7 will only work with I.E. 8 or 9. You have to disable your virus checker before you can down load and install I.E. 8 or 9.See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917925

Internet Explorer 8 is part of Windows 7 and can be re-activated using the steps indicated in that page. Try them to see if them can help you solve your problem

Microsoft had just released Internet Explorer 9, with some new features, like a minimalist look browser interface, download manager, add-on manager and allowing the use of video card GPUs to accelerate the image, video and audio processing when loading the web pages to make the loading process much faster.
